BodyFit PUNCH is a fitness facility that was brought to the Lexington community in the year of 2009 by Jon Messick. His idea was to find new and innovative ways to workout and burn.
The classes offered at this facility are not easy to say the least. Jon’s words were “intense, yet effective” and that couldn’t be more valid. Not only does each and every class offered at BodyFit PUNCH make your legs, arms and stomach burn, it has a group of instructors that work to push you through it to assure you the results you are seeking.
BodyFit PUNCH offers a first week free promotion for those who have never used their facility before. I began my journey with just that. I tried to conquer every class I could in that first week of classes to see which classes were the hardest. BodyFit PUNCH created a wide variety of classes ranging from punching bags to treadmills assuring to assist each and every customer that walks through the door. Listed below are the classes they offer and my conception of them:
Tread and Shred
As a runner, I enjoy this class the most out of all. Tread and shred is a class that incorporates the use of a treadmill for speed training and weights for muscle toning. I must warn you not to eat before this class because it is the definition of intense. Jon taught my very first class at this facility. He had us running on a 25 incline on the treadmill, lifting weights and doing oblique exercises that seemed impossible. However, with the inspirational quotes covering the walls and Jon’s ability to push everyone to their limits I completed the class. The next day, my entire body felt the reward of completing the dreadful tread and shred and it ultimately made me keep going back for more.
Burn
This class consists of your typical boot camp, but it offers a variety of exercises to target almost every part of the body. The class is sectioned into stations of workouts. Each person begins at one station and stays for about a minute before moving onto the next. The class usually has about 10 or so stations. After completing the first 10, there is a water break and then class continues with slightly different stations. I enjoy this class because it keeps me on my feet, never knowing what new exercise I will learn that day.
Kettle Kombat and Punch
These two up-beat classes utilize wraps and gloves for a unique workout with punching bags. Kettle Kombat incorporates the use of a kettle bell for separate exercises. This class not only offers a set of punches but also abs, arm and leg exercises that is sure to make your whole body shake. I like to do these classes because it is different from the workouts I do on a regular basis.
Happy Hour
Happy Hour is a fun class that is offered typically on Fridays. This class combines all of the classes that I have listed above by utilizing each room in the facility. This class is fun, yet intense and that’s what I love about it. After the class ends BodyFit PUNCH offers a cold beverage to those of age, as a reward for their hard work. On special holiday occasions food is offered as well.
My advice is for anyone interested in altering their body for the better or to just get in shape is to try BodyFit PUNCH. With each class you attend you will jumping at the opportunity to come back for more.
