What Would You Say If You Saw This Body?

What Would You Say If You Saw This Body?
Paul Shen

Earlier this month, Odyssey re-published a long-time popular article about girls who are doing a thing called "Yeti-Butting." Its popularity is probably why the written article was telling girls who Yeti-Butt to stop doing it. There was a comment in the post that talked about how Odyssey 'exploits' women's bodies. In addition, I too, have read some of the rude and disgusting comments from older men encouraging such girls to continue setting themselves up for exploitation, such as the ones below (although from a different article).

The person behind the comment regarding exploitation is completely right. It's the result of people intentionally exposing their secret lustful dreams to the public. Not only that, blame is being unjustly thrown upon those girls. Girls, it's not your fault and it never will be.

I just don't understand anymore why some of these 'men,' who are supposed to be of maturity, have the nerve to unleash their sexual fetishes and lustful thoughts in the open for everyone to see. What's worse is that there are people who enjoy seeing such men make those remarks. Is that really a good thing? Let me tell you one word: NO.

What would you say if you saw this body?

I've been caught in a compromising act on webcam chat before and the girl (who I was in the chat with) attempt to extort money from me to prevent secretly recorded images and videos of me from being posted onto the internet. I know what it's like to be a man whose body is used in an attempt to be exploited. I know too that girls don't like it at all.

Newsflash! Guys don't like it either.

I've had comments thrown my way from older women calling me cute and handsome in a derogatory way before, too, and I know for sure that I didn't enjoy any of those comments. I haven't been blamed for it yet, but someday I will, whenever that is. All I know is that if I tell ANYONE about it, I won't be taken seriously. Why is that? Don't ask me since I can't give you a genuine answer.

Put a stop to this exploitation NOW.

I frankly don't care about what anybody will say about my body when they see this, whether it's encouraging me to show more of my body or cover up, to tell me that I'm hot or ugly, asking for my number, or sliding in my DM's, or whatever it is. I will guarantee that there are people out there who will objectify and worship my body behind closed doors but encourage me not to stop like these 'men' are doing to girls.

What would you say if you saw this body? Sound off in the comments.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
