What Following My Dreams Has Taught Me

You can learn a lot from yourself.

For as long as I can remember I have always been interested in blogging. I always thought it was so interesting and inspiring that there are individuals that are brave enough to share even the most intimate detail of their lives with the public.

I always thought of myself to be a very strong minded person and I am not one to show my insecurities, but I did find myself holding back from a lot of opportunities because of them. Growing up I always had an idea of who I wanted to be and what I wanted to do with my life, but the thought of failing always held me back. Till one day I thought that if I do not work for what I want I will never overcome these fears and I will never become who I want to be. That is why I finally decided to chase my dream of becoming a blogger.

Being a blogger has allowed me to grow in so many different ways. While my blog is relatively new, it has given me the confidence that I have been lacking my whole life. Being a lifestyle blogger gave me the chance to create something that is completely mine, it gave me a voice and it helped me find who I really am.

We grow up following rules and having someone telling us what to do. We become dependent on others. One of the things that I love most about blogging is that I create my own rules and guidelines. Creating something that is completely yours teaches you how to be an independent, hard worker.

Blogging gives you the opportunity to network with so many amazing and inspiring individuals. In the blogging world, everyone goes through the same struggles and we all help and motivate each other. Networking is a crucial part in creating a business or a name for yourself because it helps others and the public to get familiar with who you are and your business.

While blogging itself can be a lot of work, when you are doing what you love, you don't see it as work and by enjoying your "work" you put in 110% percent more to make it bigger and better than what you had originally envisioned.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
