Why Blackboard Is The Literal Worst

" It's literally where dreams go and die."

Why Blackboard Is The Literal Worst
Three Rivers College

Ask any person in school. They number one thing they will say what kills their liking of the class is the overuse of the one website that literally puts the dying in studying.

Blackboard.

Literally where dreams go and die.

Blackboard is what your nightmares are made of.

Blackboard is that one roommate that eats your food and then openly denies that they did.

Blackboard sucks.

And here’s why.

1. It’s literally ALWAYS. DOWN.

Like for real. If the stuff doesn’t work, why use it? Having to wait until either last possible second to finish homework or have to have the deadline pushed back because of it

2. Once you turn something in… you can’t fix it

Literally happened to me the other week. I literally called I.T. (and put on hold for a half hour) and had to email my professor to have her open it again to fix my paper.

#shouldn’thaveto

3. If not all your professors use blackboard… = pointless

How about everybody be on the same page? When you check your grades, it’s absolutely ridiculous to make sure you’re doing good, and checking for what you need to do is absolutely hard AF to do… Because you’re bouncing from paper copy to electronic copy.

4. It’s too much work

Multiple tries = cannot figure out what part of the question you missed.

“Wait… What section is the assignment need to be turned into…?”- Every student at least once a month. Too many things to remember and let’s be honest… College students are the most busy and therefore cannot put 100% effort into everything at once.

5. I.T. doesn’t help you out when it gets confusing

Please call us during x hours (AKA when you’re at work/school) or leave a message and we’ll get back to you after the assignment was due and the thing we do doesn’t help you.

Really.

6. Making us do math to get our grades = the worst

Okay, math is not everybody’s strong suit, and making us calculate percent and then transfer that into a letter grade is not what anybody wants.

7. Professors that aren’t organized are what make us frustrated

How about surfing through three hundred documents to find the one document that you have to use for the assignment. How about not.

8. Having to sign into blackboard to go to another site to do your homework assigned

Really. Assign it on blackboard… Or don’t even use blackboard.

Literally the worst thing anyone ever has to deal with. College is already stressful enough, but adding something as botchy as blackboard is something that can be avoided and is a nuisance.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
