Seized and taken at the sight of a badge;
camouflaging the decaying system at last.
Hands shackled in padlocks of injustice.
Cries of terror cloaked in blissful distress.
Strangling life, damaging nerves.
Dreading the lights that “protect and serve;”
How is it my body when laws constrict me slowly like a snake does its prey;
squeezing me until my bones crack enthusiastically.
How is this my body when corruption tapes into my future altering my destiny;
concealing my voice, repressing my soul.
As I unravel the shame imposed on my skin;
I show the red in blue my hands are vacant,
And hope that I’m not the one that loses a heartbeat.
