Not all black girls are created equal, but equally we stand. We come in all different shapes, sizes, and shades. We are made up of full lips, wide hips, and melanin infused skin. We have a natural rhythm that was made exclusively for us. We're often misunderstood, overlooked, or told to pipe down if we speak up. We lift each other up, we support each other, and we love each other. If you have ever found yourself wondering what "Black Girl Magic" is, wonder no longer. Here's five reasons why Black Girls Really Do Rock!

1. We understand the concept of sisterhood.

The black woman standing next to me is not my opponent. She is my sister, my mirror, and my heart. The women you see on VH1 are poor representations of how black women interact. We are a blessing to one another, making sure we encourage and uplift each other. We are powerful individually, but collectively we're invincible. Beyoncé told us to get in "FORMATION," but we cannot do this alone. Sisters who slay together, are sisters forever.

2. Our hair isn't "just hair"

You can look at it, as long as you don't grab it. Our hair holds deep meaning within our culture, so for us, its never JUST HAIR. Similar to our body shapes and skin tones, our hair comes in many different forms. Let's not forget the versatility that comes with black hair, which is an added perk we all love. We even have protective styles that preserve our curls, but give us the opportunity to switch things up.

Our hair stands out without us even trying.

3. We don't like Hilary Clinton just because she is a woman.

Clinton has plenty of progressive ideas, such as equal pay for all women, which is great for everyone. However, Clinton's platform ignores the criminalization, sexual assault and police brutality that black women face. Clinton has a long history of putting the needs of black women on the back burner. As black women we cannot support someone who calls themself a "feminist,"but does advocate for the rights of all females.

4. Becuase we have SuperWoman Syndrome

We could literally go crazy, wearing an "S' all day, across our chests all day. We never get to take it off. All our lives, we have been told that we have to be this "strong black woman," and we're not allowed to be anything less. We always have to be the lioness that sacrifices everything for her family. We're always under constant pressure to be the backbone of success in the black community. We've also been told, we have to work twice as hard, to gain half of what the rest have. But that's the amazing thing about pressure, it makes diamonds.

5. We ABSOLUTELY love being BLACK!

We love our heritage and everything that comes with it. We've learned how to stand in our truth, own up to everything we are, and answer to no one about it.And just because we're pro black, that doesn't by any means signify that we are anti white.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
