I’m going to get sentimental for a minute, and yes I am capable of being something other than bitchy and sarcastic, so stay with me here. It’s hard to be bitchy about brothers when the big man upstairs has truly #blessed me with the best younger brothers in the world. (This is so sappy it pains me.)
Anyways- this is a quick shout-out to all the brothers of bitchy girls out there; y’all are the bomb. I know it is not easy having sisters like us; you have probably been tortured physically (until you got taller than us and were able to take us down no problem) and mentally. After years of sibling abuse you, for some reason, are still our biggest support system and best friends all in one. So for that, we must thank you.
Growing up, little brothers are infamous for ruining pretty much everything. You ruin our Barbie dolls by cutting their hair off, our clothes by throwing and pushing us into the dirt, our hair by cutting it, and our bank account because you exist, and now that’s less money going into our college savings account. It’s not until after we all went through puberty that I came to realize, brothers are actually pretty cool to have.
Brothers make you more appealing to future boyfriends, because they have taught you boy things like how to fish or play video games. They’ve also prepared you for wifehood by demanding you make them midnight snacks or get up and make them a glass of chocolate milk.
Brothers are also the best friend and support system you never expected. Because you are blood, it is obligatory that brothers love you no matter what; they are a judgment free zone. This makes them the best shoulder to cry on, and if you are as lucky as I am, your brothers will accept this role without question.
For a very long time I took advantage of that fact that I had such amazing brothers, so for all you bitchy girls out there who have done the same, make sure you call those little brats and thank them.
Thank them for listening to you cry about a boy they want to know nothing about.
Thank them for teaching (or attempting to teach you) you how to be humble and kind.
Thank them for all the brother/sister dinner dates where you talked for hours.
Thank them for loving an impossible person to love and for being the greatest brothers in the world.
And to my brothers who probably won’t read this until I physically shove my phone into their faces, thank you for all you have done for me, you will never know how truly grateful I am to have you two in my life.
Okay, totally done with the sappy-rants forever.
