City lights bleeding through blocks of structures filled with people, each street stitched together by lamp posts and cigarettes. Islands of electricity powerfully pushing each human through their systems like robots to fresh batteries.
It's like a puzzle down there. No two lines are quite the same yet the picture is cohesive. A three-dimensional sky of stars shining from all corners.
Clouds, like candle wax dripping over flames of the city.
Clouds, like hands grabbing each inch of ground to cradle it until the flames burn out and all you can see are the embers of what used to exist there.
Do you think they're happy down there? Do you think they wish to be in the sky, just like the stars?
When the sun pokes his head around the skyscrapers down there, we will find ourselves upon sheets of unfamiliarity. We will search for answers that are intangible but we won't give up until they are found. We will wear the keys to unlock our homes around our necks in hopes that the answers will come knocking.
And when they show up on the doorstep asking to come inside out of the pouring rain, who knows if we will welcome them in.
