This holiday season, for most of us, is a month of procrastination and enjoying not having to wake up for 8a.m’s. The most logical thing to do to fill time is stream shows on Netflix until our eyes fall out and we accidentally waste an entire day. If this sounds appealing and you watch a full season within days, you are in need of some recommendations.
Shameless
This series depicts a comical, dysfunctional family known around Chicago as the Gallaghers. If you’re looking for suspense, humor, and uncertainty this show is for you. The father, Frank, is an alcoholic who spends his days at the town’s local bar during the day, scamming money in every way he can, and spending the nights in alleyways. The constant uncertainty and suspense as to what will occur next makes binge-watching irresistible.
The Fosters
The typical 21st century American family, The Fosters follows the lives of a lesbian couple who raised a group of ethnically diverse children, one biological and four adopted, in San Diego, California.
Orange Is the New Black
This Netflix original has become one of the most popular, and most highly watched shows since it released in 2013. Orange Is the New Black show's the life of a woman, Piper, doing time in federal prison and along the way both making, and burning bridges. Drama follows as well as heartbreak and humor. Warning: it is easy to watch two seasons in a day, you won’t be able to stop.
Black Mirror
Another Netflix original, Black Mirror is a “near science-fiction” TV series. Every episode is different, but they all depict the insane, but true, realities of what technology is doing to our society and what we will become once digital reality takes over our life. These surreal episodes will make you both question your life, and never want to stop watching. 10/10 recommend.
