Pull up a pillow and order a pizza, because chances are you are going to sit in the same spot for hours on end watching your favorite show, better known as binge-watching. Binge-watching is the practice of watching televisions shows for abnormal lengths of time. In a survey conducted by Netflix in February 2014, 73 percent of people define binge-watching as "watching between 2-6 episodes of the same TV show in one sitting."
But what do you watch? We’re not talking about you average Family Guy of Orange Is The New Black. We’re taking chances on shows you probably scroll past without reading their description.
Warning: I am not responsible for any procrastination that occurs while binge-watching due to the list below.
American Horror Story
This is as scary as you can get on a syndicated television show. An anthology series, each season has a different story theme based on common American urban myths. Using the same characters every season, this thrilling show will have you on the edge of your seat no matter what.
Archer
Think James Bond’s irresponsible little brother. The show whirls around I.S.I.S., an international spy agency that deals with global crises. It follows Archer and his raunchy coworkers through their escapades saving the world. The show is a tad cynical, with rapid-fire dialogue and characters unlike anything else on Netflix.
Louie
Louis C.K. is a comedian and divorced father of two girls. Doesn’t sound like much, but he finds a twistedly hilarious view on life that is sure to make you "LOL." The Seinfeldlike show mirrors the real life of its lead star-director-writer-editor, but it doesn’t really have a plot. The show incorporates stand-up scenes and shows Louie attempting to find comedy in his life. It’s a comedic masterpiece that you’ll simply have to watch for yourself.
30 Rock
An instant classic. The show follows the head writer of a sketch-comedy series, Tina Fey, and her anything-but-ordinary group of colleagues/friends. Tracy Morgan, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Krakowski help round out the cast, but it’s Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of corporate executive Jack Donaghy that makes it all worthwhile. The dirty jokes and subliminal messages are sure to keep you watching.
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
The amount of shocking quality the series has to offer makes up for the lack of color. Each episode is a textbook example of how to scare the living hell out of someone, proving Hitchcock’s short films are just as alluring as his full-length work. Every story is surprising and horrific, whether it's a drama or mystery. A tiny horror film in every episode, this show will let you relish in Hitchock’s droll sensibilities..
Bob’s Burgers
Although this show is currently a TV fave, it is so much better to watch it in mass quantities. The show is about a family who owns a diner -- simple enough, right? But what makes it worthwhile are the kids, Tina, Gene, and Louise. This group is anything but polite and the outlandish thoughts they should probably keep to themselves will surely have you laughing.
