The title says to the big sister I never had, but really she's my second mom. When I came to college, I knew no one. I came from five hours away and I was terrified I was going to be alone. Then about a week into the school year, I met Michaela. She was very intimidating and to be honest, it felt like she didn't like any first years! She became my upperclassman and before I knew it she had claimed me as her child. I was beyond ecstatic because I had someone at school who knew exactly what I was going through and who would be willing to help me with anything and everything. I can tell you the moment she became my favorite person. We were standing at football practice and it was very cold. We were talking about something I can't quite recall, and then randomly, we started talk- singing Taylor Swift's Wildest Dream. How that happened I'll never have a clue, but it really fortified our friendship and made us really close. From that day on, whenever that song comes on we send each other snapchats singing to each other.
We share a love for cats and a love of athletic training. We share a hate for our relationship problems and the people who irritate us on campus and you can bet that she knows everything about my day and I know everything about hers. I know that I can go to her for help, and I have. She is willing to help me with homework, even through text. She always answers me and never leaves me wondering if she read me text. Michaela is not only one of closest friends, but she's my mom. She never judges me for anything and always gives me advice on how to handle situations. She never tells me not to hang out with someone, but always makes sure I'm okay. For all of this, I am grateful.
I know that I can come over to her apartment whenever I need to. We watch movies and make brownies and talk about how stupid and dumb boys are. She may be like my mom, but she's also my best friend when I need her to be. She knows when I need her to only listen, and she knows when I need her to tell me what to do. I am so thankful to have her in my life. So, my dearest Michaela, when you read this, just know that I love you very much! Thank God I have someone like you in my life to help me through it! You are an amazing person and you will make the best athletic trainer one day. Please know that I'll be by your side the whole time, and I'll never let you down. Thanks for not giving up on me as a first year and never giving up on me now. Finally, thank you for being my mom. I love you!!
Love,
Your dot
