If you have a big brother, you know exactly what I mean. Big brothers are awesome for countless reasons, and I want to share some of them with you. If you are the younger sibling, you will be able to relate. So here are some reasons why big brothers rock.
1. They will break the face of anyone who even looks at you wrong.
Yup. I said it. They will literally break faces for you. It does not matter who it is or what they did, if you say the word, big brother has it under control. Even when they are mad at you they have your back, always.
2. They stick up for you to your parent(s).
Say that you got into trouble with your parents, all you have to do is tell your big brother and he will talk your parents out of whatever punishment they decided to give you. Whoa. Big brothers are awesome.
3. They are your alibi.
They are your alibi for any circumstance that you need them to be. If you told your parents you are going to your friend's house for game night when you are really going to that party your parents said you could not go to, big brother is telling your parents that he dropped you off at the friend's house AND talked to the friend's parents. (LOL)
Not only are they your alibi to your parents, but your friends and significant other if you know what I mean. Hey... Everyone tells white lies.
4. They will wrestle, punch, and argue with you until you can beat them.
If you big brother is anything like mine, he made you tough as nails (as my grandma would say). My brother would wrestle me, and physically fight me until I could hold my own with him. The majority of you could probably do that sooner than I could, because my brother is 26 years older than I am. He never took it easy on me, and I am glad because he prepared me for the real world.
5. They are your biggest fan.
Anything that you do, they are behind you 100%. The simple phrase of my brother telling me that he was proud of me or loved watching me play sports always made me smile. There is no fan like your big brother.
6. They/You may not tell them often, but you DO love them.
No matter how many times my brother and I argue, fight, scream, or tell each other we hate one another, at the end of the day this is the person that will go to war for me under any conditions. It took me a long time to tell my brother that I love him and when I did, he knew that I truly meant it.
I wrote this article in memory of my brother, James C. Nutter, who passed away October 11, 2016. The cause is currently unknown. He was 46 years old, and my best friend. May you rest easy, and I will see you soon.
I love you Jaybo,
Sis.
