5 Bible Verses To Calm Your Worrying Soul

We all have points in our life where we feel like we have reached the breaking point. There are moments in our lives where the stress that hits us is almost unbearable. Whether it be school stress, work stress, or anything else in life that is causing us to feel emotionally strained, sometimes we need to take a moment and breath. I know that is easier said than done (believe me). It is so hard to find peace in the midst of what feels like an emotional breakdown, but it is so important that we do that for our own mental sake. When I have these feelings of stress and anxiety, my first place I turn to is my Bible. It gives me comfort, because I know that it is God who is control of all things.

As a college student who is struggling to find who she is and what she wants to do with her life, I find myself constantly stressing and worrying about what my future holds for me. It is the "not knowing" part that worries me to death. I keep telling myself I cannot worry about this. I know that my future is in the hands of God, and he is the one who will guide me in the direction for which I am meant to go. He is the only one who can calm our anxious minds.

With it being the middle of the semester for all students (college or high school) and the holidays are coming up, there are many I am sure who are having the same stressful thoughts as me. Here are five of my personal favorite verses I look to when I am feeling stressed or strained. My hope is for those who are feeling the same as me read these verses and get the same "I really needed this" feeling as I do.

1. Philippians 4:7

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

2. Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

3. Isaiah 43:18-19

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

4. Pslam 4:8

"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."

5. Matthew 6:34

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
