Life gets tough sometimes. College is hard. What do you do when you feel like there’s nowhere left to turn? How about some advice from the one who loves you most?
Stressed
Finals, papers, extracurricular activities, group projects, seminars… There’s so much to do, and so little time. You feel overwhelmed. You feel stressed.
- Psalm 55:22: “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
- 2nd Corinthians 4:8: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.”
- Psalms 9:9: “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”
- 1st Corinthians 1:3: “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Like You’re Not Enough
Sometimes, you just don’t feel like you’re enough. You feel like you aren’t strong enough to handle college’s rigorousness; you feel inadequate, you feel weak. But that isn’t always a bad thing.
- 2nd Corinthians 12:9-10: “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
- Hebrews 13:5: “…because God has said, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
- Luke 19:10: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Lonely
Sometimes, you feel alone. Like no one understands. You’re away from your family, your best friend. You feel lost, struggling to find your place.
- Hebrews 13:5: “…because God has said, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
- Luke 19:10: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Abandoned
You thought your friends and family would always be there for you, no matter what. But, they let you down. You’re disappointed in them, and maybe even yourself.
- 2nd Timothy 4:16-17: “At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them. 17 But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength…”
- Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Lacking Direction
You don’t know what you want to do, where you want to go, what you want to be. It seems like everyone around you has everything figured out, and you just have no clue. They’re moving forward while you’re standing still.
- James 1:5: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
- Psalm 32:8: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
- Psalm 37: 7: “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
Tired
With everything going on in your life, you’re exhausted. College comes with a busy schedule, and you’re getting very little sleep. You’re so tired, mentally and physically.
- Matthew 11:28: ““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
- 1st Peter 5: 6-7: “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
- Psalm 4:8: “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
Almost every issue you have is addressed in the Bible. God understands. He wants to be there for you, wants to comfort you. All you have to do is let Him.
