To My Best Friend's Future Boyfriend, Here's What You Need To Know About My Girl
Maddie Hilliard

First of all, you don't exist yet. Lucky for you, I'm here to help you out and let you know if you should even try to shoot for the stars (aka my BFF).

There have been a few boyfriends. Sometimes, I have no idea how they got past her eye rolling and the annoyed little laugh she does to be sarcastic; but, as you can obviously see, those guys are no longer around. And to be honest, you won't be either if you don't listen to me. My best friend is one of a kind. She is wifey. She is the girl you take home to mom and dad. She has had some boyfriends who are less than extraordinary and couldn't make her happy; therefore, letting you into her life is going take some effort on your behalf.

Before you even get at her, there's a few important things you need to know about this girl.

She is a woman.

She gets her own, she supports herself, she spoils herself and she spoils the ones she loves. She knows the importance of family and always feels responsible to make sure everything and everyone in her life is taken care of. She's a hard worker for sure, and she doesn't have time for anyone who is unmotivated. She is successful and will continue to thrive. She expects your grind to be as hard as, if not harder, than hers. She will support and push you like no other! She left the lazy boys in 2017!

She's not just any woman, she is a God fearing woman!

I'm telling you, if you haven't been praying for the love of your life then my best friend isn't the girl for you. After having the opportunity to stand by her side and see her grow over the years, it would be an understatement to not tell you this girl is a blessing. Get your Sunday clothes out and prepare for long talks about His word because she's going to want to share that religious connection with you.

She is loud.

She raises her voice when she's excited, when she's mad, or when she's lit about a new makeup or a trip to get food. I know you're gonna hear her talking, I swear I can hear her even being 2 hours away, so you better be sure to listen to how her day has been going and let her sing in Spanish around you even if you don't understand it. She just wants to hear that you care, hear that you have future plans, and hear how you plan to invest time into her. If you have a headache and need a little quiet, take her out for tamales; its a win for you and its a win for her.

She is so incredibly beautiful.

She's got that thing. That thing where she can slay with a full face of makeup, but slay just as hard in sweatpants with her hair tied up and a taco in her hand. Let her know she's beautiful everyday, be her hype man, and take pride in yourself knowing that you could get a girl as bad as her.

The most important thing to know about her: She doesn't need you.

This girl has never needed a man in her life, and she never will. I know what you're thinking, she doesn't need you because she has me. Thats entirely true; yet, she doesn't need you because she is strong, independent, and outspoken. If you are lucky enough to be apart of her life means that she cares about you and sees something in you. She only lets the best of the best into her inner circle and you should know how incredible you must be to have even gotten this far!

So whoever you are, I hope that you come to see her through my eyes. She is one of the most valuable things in my life.

And if you needed a little recap or summary to remember what I said about her, just read Proverbs 31:25-27.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
