Thank you for always pushing me to be better than I am.
Thank you for calling me out when I do something wrong.
Thank you for always knowing when I’m upset even when I don’t tell you.
Thank you for recognizing things that bother me, and for trying to protect me from them.
Thank you for understanding when I can’t seem to form words, when my anxiety becomes too much.
Thank you for listening, and remembering every conversation.
I have always had a problem trusting people, but something about you always seemed reliable.
With you, everything is easy. I never worry about my secrets getting out, because I know that you would never break my trust.
Before you, I had to write in diaries and keep them hidden. Now, it's like I have my own personal human diary.
Sometimes it feels like I’m carrying the weight of the world, but you continue to surprise me with your ability to carry my problems.
When I was little, I thought having a best friend was simply having someone to guilt into doing things for each other with the simple statement of “I won’t be your best friend anymore!” But as I’ve gotten older, the title holds a deeper meaning.
Having a best friend means having someone who is always a phone call away. It means trusting someone with your life.
Having a best friend means time is no boundary. It means that even after weeks without speaking, you pick up right where you left off.
Having a best friend means knowing, without a doubt, you have someone who will love you through all of your faults.
A best friend is the person you think about when something happens in your life. You instantly want to tell them every detail.
A best friend is the person that wants the very best for you in life, and will call you out if they see you settling for anything less.
So here’s to my best friend, the person I go to for everything.
You’re the reason I’m smiling while writing this.
You keep me on my toes.
And when it feels like the world is crashing around me, you remind me that I have the strength to stand.
Bestfriend, please know that I love you. Know that this world is cruel sometimes, and sometimes you’ll feel a little broken. But when you’re sitting on the ground, with your heart in a million pieces, know that I will always piece you back together.
Know that sometimes we will fight. We will disagree and our stubbornness will, without a doubt, overpower any chance that either of us will apologize. But when you feel like you have no one else, because you think our friendship is over, know that I will always be there no matter how much we argue. You can always count on me.
I whole-heartedly believe that you were delicately and intentionally placed in my life by God himself. Because a friendship like ours is not something you simply stumble upon.
This is my thanks to you, the person who holds my heart in her hands. For soulmates are not just found in significant others, but found most often in a friendship built like ours.
I love you, Bestfriend, to the very ends of this Earth.
