To My Best Friend

Thank you so much for everything you do for me.

To My Best Friend
Kerri Wilkins

To my best friend,

It seems like I've known you my whole life. When in fact you walked into my life when I didn't think I needed you. I have had so many friends walk in and out of my life, but I know you never will. I don't think I can express how much you mean to me or how much you have impacted me for the better.

Everything about you is so amazing and genuine.

You love unconditionally. No matter what the situation is I know you have my back and I know you will love me no matter what. You make everyone around you feel so special even if it comes at your own expense and that is so very rare to find in a person.

You are one of the funniest people I have known. There are very few people who understand my sense of humor, but you are one of them. You always are someone I can count on to put a smile on my face, even if I'm having the worst day of my life.

You make me so proud with all your accomplishments. You should be so proud of everything that you have done in your life. You deserve all the credit you get for everything you do.

You accept my craziness, my uncontrollable laugh and my clumsiness whereas other people would just stare and laugh. Our inside jokes would seem weird to others but when you say them I can't hold back my laughter.

You help me with so much. No matter if it's school, stress, or everyday life you're the one I go to for advice. You never judge me for the mistakes I've made and you see past my insecurities. Without you I honestly don't know how I could make it through the week because you always manage to keep me going down the right track. I love that you take time out of your day to see how I'm doing, even if it's just a simple text.

You bring out the best version of me. You have such high standards for yourself and for me. Whenever I begin to crash or want to give up, you bring me right back to where I was before. And you do it in the most gentle way possible. You never make me feel lesser to anyone and you always understand where I'm coming from.

You live your life through Christ. Although I'm not the most religious person, you never force your faith on me but you encourage me to go down the right path. Your love for God is something that both inspires me and makes me challenge my own faith.

You see the world through only positive eyes. You never have anything negative to say about anyone or anything. Even if you are feeling let down or in the dumps about someone you only see the good in them. It's so refreshing to see that someone in the world can view things like you do and it gives me hope that there are more people like you.

My life forever changed when I met you. I can't wait to see where our friendship goes and where we will both end up. Somehow I know that even when we're miles apart you will always be there for me. You never cease to amaze me with everything that you do. And I am so beyond grateful and blessed that I have you for a best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
