By now, everyone is well aware of Beyoncé’s presence. Whether it’s music, social media, or even a performance, one can guarantee her name will be prominent in the media, and that’s exactly what happened leading up to Super Bowl 50.
It all started with her appearance in Coldplay’s music video for “Hymn for the Weekend” While many thought the song was fresh, there was some questioning of Beyoncé, as she was shown (matching the theme of the video) in Indian dress, which seemed to some like appropriation of Indian culture.
A week later, the day before the Super Bowl, Bey out of the blue dropped her first song in over a year with her video "Formation." A fan of dropping music unannounced, as with her 2013 self-titled album, Beyoncé has already amassed buzz with the vivid scenes in her video and lyrics showing her owning up to her blackness, dismissing rumors, and even drowning a police car in New Orleans.
All the hype is set to be accompanied by an album following the announcement of her Formation World Tour right after her Super Bowl performance with Coldplay.
Upon release, the internet went wild yet again, not only praising the singer on her performance, but with excitement of her tour announcement.
Please of the injustice of Beyoncé dropping the announcements were all said in fun as fans debated between paying bills or buying tickets. The artist was certainly missed, and after years of no new music, it'll be interesting to see what Beyoncé will present.
Love her or not, you can’t deny the talent that Beyoncé has or even the success she is able to show on a consistent basis.
From 20 Grammy awards to her relevance in breaking social media whenever she makes an announcement, her star power is one that ought to be respected for years to come.
