A Letter To My Lifelong Best Friend

To you,

Thank you. Thank you for not leaving on my roughest and darkest days. You have seen me at my worst and there is nothing I could thank you more for than that itself.

Thank you for growing up with me. We grew up doing everything together, whether it be going to each other’s houses after church or cheering for our brothers during their games, we were inseparable.

Thank you for helping grow in my faith. You always reminded me to keep God first. You helped me to want to be a better Christian. That’s one of the greatest things anyone could help me to be.

Thank you for becoming one of my favorite people and closest friends, despite our young ages. We grew up together from such young children, and we have still held our same friendship, adding so many memories.

Thank you for being there for me always. You were (and still are) the person I would go to when something was going wrong in my life. I know that I can text you anytime I am in the dumps and you will know just what to say or do to me to cheer me up.

Thank you for letting me show up at your house with no notice. I know that I have stayed over there about as much as I have lived with my own family and yet, you still let me come over all the time.

Thank you for keeping our friendship no matter the distance. I know that we have gone our separate ways and to our different schools, but I am so thankful that we are still as close as we were growing up. Despite the distance and our different sororities and everything, we have still kept our friendship strong and that is such a relieving thing to have.

Thank you for the memories. Our memories are a part of my life that I will constantly keep strong and hold onto. No one else would understand them, but we have some of the greatest memories. From weddings to road trips, there are no ways that anyone else could look at us and not think we were idiots for laughing at virtually nothing.

Lastly, thank you for being my lifelong best friend. I know that you and I will be bff's. I am confident in that. I am confident in the fact that you will be in my wedding and I know that I will be in yours. I am confident that we have many memories and events to encounter together in the future and I am confident that we are stuck with each other. You are the Cristina to my Meredith.

Thank you for it all,

Your best friend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
