The Best Things In Life Are Truly Free

The best things in life can't be bought.

The Best Things In Life Are Truly Free
Hunter Ruediger

Everyone knows the popular saying that goes, "The Best Things in Life are Free." In all my experiences, that statement holds very true. Everything that will stay with you your whole life are usually free. The best things in life are free, people just need to see it to believe it.

One of the best things that are free are relationships, whether that is a friendship or a romantic relationship. Both of these are free (or at least should be) and we as people benefit greatly from these. Also, if you pick the right ones, they will be with you the rest of your life. Now, of course not all will go on with you forever, but there will be some that do and those are something to lean on throughout life. Through thick and thin, relationships will be a most valued asset anyone will ever find/have.

Another thing that is free throughout life, that is one of the most valued things I can think of, is family. Some families might not be the best, but for the most part, from what I've experienced and heard, family is there for you and don't expect to get paid for being there. You can't pick your family and they can't pick you, yet they are there for you and love you no matter what. Those traits are something you just can't buy. Family is another thing that can be with you through your entire life and you have the opportunity to create your own family and continue the cycle.

Something that a lot of people take for granted, that is also free to us as humans, is the Earth itself. The Earth gives us plenty of sights and sounds that sometimes feel out of this world amazing, and the Earth doesn't get paid for it and it is all free. Nature can cheer you up when you're feeling down, like when you walk outside and it is nice and warm and sunny. Things like that just cheer you up so much and guess what, it's all free.

These are three things that are a part of everyday life and all are free, and will always be free. These things will be with you your entire life and will boost life in general for you. There are lots of things that can be bought to keep you happy, for what seems like forever, but these three things will be with you for good and only they will bring you true happiness.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
