A Thank You To My Best Friend

Thank you for choosing to be in my life, and staying in it.

A Thank You To My Best Friend

My best friend is the sister I never knew I had. We met by fate and became best friends by choice. We have the greatest laughs and the most genuine fun together, and most importantly-we bring out the best in each other. We're even closer than two peas in a pod (which is pretty close, if you don't already know). I don't know what I'd do without my best friend in my life. She's my rock, confidant, and soul mate all wrapped up into one incredible package.

The best thing that God could've given me was a best friend. And that's exactly what He did.

Thank you for having the most fun with me in the simplest moments.

It doesn't take an elaborate plan to have fun together. We can be silently laying in bed at 3PM, spontaneously taking an aerial yoga class at 9PM, or baking a cookie cake at 2AM and it's all the same to us. It doesn't matter what we do together, but the fact that we're together and enjoying each other's company is the best part about our quality time.

For being weird with me.

The kind of weird where we can dance and sing in the kitchen together and have fun doing it. Or have conversations in different accents and alter egos in the grocery store. Or cry over 50 cent socks in the middle of Target. Yeah...that weird.

For thinking about me.

Whether it's a good morning text, a quick "Good luck!" before a test, or just something random that reminded her of me-she keeps me in her thoughts. It's comforting knowing that someone cares about me so much that I'm on her mind even when we're apart.

For the moral support.

She's got my back no matter what. Through every heartbreak and failure, she's there to pick up the pieces and make me whole again. And through every success and accomplishment, she's there to cheer me on too. It doesn't matter what I do, or how major or minor it is-my best friend is one of my biggest supporters.

For not judging me for my flaws.

I don't have to worry about what my best friend will think when I tell her anything, because she loves me for ME. Sometimes she laughs at my dumb little mistakes, but it doesn't matter to her. She accepts my faults and takes the time and effort to help me grow from it, rather than looking down on me for being imperfect.

For loving the same things I do.

It's great doing the things I love, but it's even better when you get to do them with your best friend. Dancing, teaching, shopping, eating-we both love it just as much, so we can do it together and make it that much more fun!

For exploring our faith together.

The best kind of friendship is when you can sit down with a Bible, read, and revelate in God's grace together. We can talk for hours about how in awe we are of His great blessings, or what we think His plan is for us. These talks allow us not only to grow as individuals, but also together in our faith. When that brings you closer to God AND to each other, that's the most meaningful relationship of all.

For making me become a better person.

She pushes me so that each day, I strive to become a better version of myself. The way she lives her life-bravely, selflessly, and with so much love-inspires me to do the same. I wouldn't have the courage to break out of my shell without her. She not only motivates me but also takes the time to make me sit down for a moment and reflect on my past, present, and future. I'm so lucky to have a best friend that loves me so much that her happiness comes from my happiness. She only wants the best for me, and I only want the best for her.

Hey, best friend-you mean the world to me. Thank you for being you. I love you so much!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
