5 Greatest Sports Rivalries Of All Time

Rivalry games. It's what makes the sports world go round. It's why ESPN analysts are paid extremely high amounts of money. It's what every sports fan simultaneously looks forward to and dreads. It brings out the best in the athletes that play. No matter what happens, though, we should be grateful to witness such athletic skill and finesse.

1. Barcelona vs Real Madrid

The spectacle that is El Clasico. Millions, even billions, gather at least twice a year to watch the best of La Liga go at it. It's safe to say that is never disappoints... well, unless you're on the losing side.

2. Nadal v Djokovic

These two have faced each other 52 times, with Djokovic having the slight advantage, having won 27 and Nadal winning 25. That statistic alone should paint the picture of just how competitive and promising it is when these two play each other. If that's not enough, their matches have more often than not gone to five sets. If THAT'S not enough, they hold the record for longest Grand Slam final ever -- a whopping 5 hours and 53 minutes at the 2012 Australian Open.

3. UGA v GA Tech

MAYBE not one of the greatest rivalries, but I go to UGA and am very, very biased (for my dawgs, tho). We first played each other in 1893, and the clean, old-fashioned hate ain't letting up anytime soon!

4. Man City v Man U

This one is as old and as good as it gets. The best of the best of English football play each other at least twice, and it's always a show. In an extremely interesting turn of events, the two men, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, that had been the managers of Real Madrid and Barcelona at the same time are now the coaches for Manchester United and Manchester City, respectively.

5. Cavs v Golden State

Giphy

WELL, this is not a surprise. These two teams have faced each other in the last four NBA finals. Golden State holds the advantage at 3-1. This rivalry might turn into a renewed Golden State v Lakers rivalry with LeBron's controversial move to the Lakers this summer. Keep an eye out, people!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
