Finals are over, the holidays are upon us, and the New Year is just around the corner. During this time, a lot of our lives tend to be hectic roller coasters filled with stress, joy, and every emotion in between. Although the phrase ‘new year, new me’ is basically a joke, there are ways to take on the new year on a brand new slate. It’s time to forget about that one question you knew you could have answered better on your psychology exam and instead dive into a good book. Here are some of the most inspiring self-help books of 2015:

1. Happy is the New Healthy by Dave Romanelli

This book will have you relaxing and enjoying every minute of life.

2. #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

If this book by Nasty Gal founder and CEO doesn’t inspire you to go after what you love and to never give up, then I don’t know what will. Amoruso shares her story and how she went from dumpster diving to owing a $100 million company.

3.Self-Help by Lorrie Moore

Although this gem hit shelves in 1985, it is still as good as ever; filled with short stories about infidelity, death, and growing up that are bound to relate to you in some way or another.

4.Walk like a Buddha by Lodro Rinzler

Perfect for anyone looking for a lifestyle change, this book takes a more modern approach on why implementing elements of this religion into your life will give you amazing benefits.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
