At the beginning of March, I had the opportunity of going to one of the coolest cities in the Midwest while attending a conference with my friends. When I learned I was going to be coming to this city for my conference, I never really thought anything of it. I honestly never thought that going here would be a fun and interesting time but I was proven wrong.
Superior Pho
During my stay in Cleveland, this award-winning restaurant was definitely the place to go. Superior Pho is a Vietnamese restaurant is full of yummy authentic food. There are many bowls of pho to try from.
They all have unique flavors, spices, and taste. If you aren't as adventurous as others like me, I would recommend the number 13 called Pho GÃ which is just a noddle soup with chicken and a few herbs. No matter what you get, I know for a fact you'll love it.
The Cleveland Museum of Art
Cleveland Scene Archive Photos
Next, to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, MO, this is one of the best museums you can go to in the Midwest region.
This art museum is full of thousands and thousands of artwork from all over the world like Europe, Africa, Asia, and America. Some of the most surreal work I saw here come from my favorite artists and the most well-known artist in the history of art like Vincent van-Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol.
If you are really into art like I am then you have to check this museum.
Downtown
Levi Smith
The downtown area of Cleveland is a cool place to check out. It is full of skyscrapers, restaurants, bars, shops, etc. The architecture is absolutely beautiful with how they mixed the modern glass buildings with the older stone ones. As a photographer, it was great to just walk around and photograph it all. You should definitely come down here for a nice stroll.
Bourbon Street Barrel Room
I know you may be in Cleveland but you always got to have some New Orleans style food on your mind. This restaurant is full of authentic Creole and Cajun-inspired cuisines like gumbo, jambalaya, beignets, and many more.
The best thing I ate while dining here was my appetizer which was the gator bites. While eating the food at this restaurant, you get full of experience of feeling like you are actually in New Orleans instead of Cleveland. You should without a doubt try this restaurant out.
Lake Erie
Cleveland sits along the shore of Lake Erie which is only one of the five great lakes located in North America. The lake can provide beaches and water activities for people like me who love that kind of stuff.
Unfortunately, during my time in Cleveland, it was winter so most of the lake was all frozen over with ice and it was extremely cold so I didn't get to utilize it at all.
So if you love all the activities that come with a lake then don't go in the cold months as I did. Next time I go back, I will for sure have to come during the warm summer months.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
This museum is one of the coolest places I have ever been to in my life. The purpose of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is to house historical artifacts that belong to the most influential artists, producers, and other well-known figures in the music industry that had influence in the development in rock and roll.
There are six floors full of hundreds of artifacts.
Some of the most surreal items that I saw included Lady Gaga's pink hat from her Joanne album cover, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac outfit from their Rumors album cover, Beyonce's outfit from the music video "Run The World (Girls)", Britney Spears's outfit from her performance of "Oops!... I Did It Again" at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, and several items belonging to Michael Jackson.
If you are a music nerd like me then you HAVE to check this museum out.
Cleveland, Ohio is full of exciting museums, yummy restaurants, cool attractions, and many more. Next time you're thinking about a fun getaway or vacation, you should definitely but Cleveland on the map.
