The 8 Best Places To Get Grilled Cheese In The Twin Cities Area

It's your go-to comfort food. It's always on the menu. It's the food you'd marry in a heartbeat (if that was a thing). It's grilled cheese. You loved it when you were a kid, and you'll love it until the day you die. If you were buried under a mountain of grilled cheese, you'd be perfectly fine with that. Grilled cheese is your spirit animal food, and it's a staple in your diet. If you're a grilled cheese lover, you've most likely been to these eight places. But if you haven't, you need to stop everything you're doing right now to try these grilled cheeses. You'll be doing your stomach a favor.

1. Annie's Parlour

If you're looking for the best grilled cheese, maybe in the world, look no further than Annie's Parlour in Dinkytown. Annie's serves up a three slice whole wheat with muenster, American and smoky sharp cheddar. But, that's not all. They also offer a deluxe grilled cheese and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, too. Pair your grilled cheese with some fries and a malt, and your stomach will thank you.

2. Melt Shop

Melt Shop is guaranteed to satisfy all your grilled cheese and tater tot needs. From a classic grilled cheese to a three cheese option to a variety of other grilled sandwiches, Melt Shop has it all and definitely won't disappoint. Take a trip to Mall of America to enjoy their delicious grilled cheese with a side of hot tots and a sweet milkshake.

3. Johnny Rockets

Johnny Rockets offers not only a kids' meal grilled cheese option but a grown-up version for all of the big kids out there. The grown-up version lets you choose between four slices of cheddar, American, Swiss or pepper jack on your choice of bread. If anything, this grilled cheese is another reason to take a trip to Mall of America!

4. Hen House Eatery

Five words: Mac and cheese grilled cheese. Hen House Eatery, located in Minneapolis, makes your dreams a reality with the mac and cheese grilled cheese (that you can add bacon and/or tomatoes to). Have you heard anything sound more amazing? If you've ever had mac and cheese pizza, this is the grilled cheese for you. You're welcome.

5. Aster Cafe

Aster Cafe is a candle-lit restaurant/bar with a European look and patio. Take in views of the city skyline while relishing in a grilled cheese that includes fresh mozzarella, cheddar and Swiss with bacon and tomato and is served up with a cup of tomato bisque. This is the cute little cafe you've been searching for.

6. Panera

Panera's grilled cheese is a classic. If you haven't had it, you haven't lived. Pair it with their tomato soup and you will be in straight up food heaven. This is comfort food at its finest.

7. Hell's Kitchen

Take a look at this beauty. You can almost taste the ooey-gooey goodness of Hell's Kitchen's grilled cheese. The sourdough bread comes coated with grated parmesan cheese and is grilled with Swiss, Vermont white cheddar and fontina cheeses. Add bacon, tomatoes or guacamole, if you're feelin' wild.

8. Culver's

Ah, Culver's grilled cheese. This item comes off the kids' meal menu, which includes fries (or whatever side you want) and a drink. It's cheap and comes with a lot. Indulge in the lightly buttered sourdough bread with American cheese. No shame. No regrets. Peace. Love. Grilled cheese.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
