John Oliver and his late-night show "Last Week Tonight" have been getting quite a bit of attention in recent weeks following his takedown of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. His segment on Drumpf was viewed over 20,000 times on YouTube making it his most-watched video by a margin of almost 7,000 views. The day after the segment aired, the number of likes on the show's Facebook page skyrocketed. As someone who has been a fan of Oliver's for over a year, this increased popularity is delightful, but Oliver has done a lot more great segments than his takedown of Drumpf. Here are 12 of my favorite main stories from "Last Week Tonight."
12. Marketing to doctors.
11. Wealth gap.
10. Mandatory minimums.
9. Death penalty.
8. Mental health.
7. Paid family leave.
6. Transgender rights.
5. Tobacco.
4. LGBT Discrimination.
3. Migrants and refugees.
2. Sex education.
1. Televangelists.
(And the ensuing adventures of Our Lady Of Perpetual Exemption.)
BONUS:
"Last Week Tonight" also often asks the question of "How Is This Still A Thing?"
And now...this.
