Even though the Illini are obviously the most hard-working, intelligent and dedicated students on the planet, nobody can deny that sometimes, we each need a few hours with a new Netflix show and our favorite pillow. But if you ever can't figure out what to watch, here is a guide for some of the best binge-watches on the site.
1. How I Met Your Mother
This 9-season sitcom features tons of pop culture references, amazing jokes and continuity on par with Harry Potter. Even though the characters are in their 30s and living in New York, it's impossible not to see pieces of yourself in each of them. Not only will you get stuck in the overarching plot lines, but you'll find yourself using the character's catchphrases in your daily convos.
2. Parks and Recreation
Just as funny as The Office, Parks and Recreation is one of the funniest shows on Netflix. Not only that, but it's wrapping up its final season in a few weeks - so if you start now, you might catch it. Your favorite actors - from UIUC alum Nick Offerman to the Guardian of the Galaxy Chris Pratt - are all stars in the show, which makes it even better.
3. Gossip Girl
If you haven't seen this drama-filled show already, college is the perfect time to start before it escapes our time completely. Your faves Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley are all main characters who lead lives that many of us will never come close to. The drama, the money, the fashion, the elitism...Gossip Girl will give it all to you vicariously, and you will love it.
4. Orange is the New Black
A lot of the appeal of OITNB is the fact that it's an original Netflix show. Not only does Netflix do an amazing job with all of their novel productions, but you can't find them anywhere else - which makes them even more uniquely appealing. It's won both Emmys and People's Choice Awards for the amazing cast and combo of drama and humor. You truly won't find anything like it anywhere else.
5. The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is one of the best dramas on television right now, and it has the sky-high ratings to prove it. With a group of relatable people surviving the zombie apocalypse, you'll fall in love with the characters, even if their stints are short-lived. You never know what's going to happen and the insane suspense will make you keep pressing "Continue Watching" when Netflix rudely asks if you're still viewing the show.
