Moms literally make the world go round. They give you life, feed you and stay awake until the wee hours of the morning with you until you can do it all yourself. They say the funniest things at completely inappropriate times, wear their jeans past their belly-buttons, make the best lasagna ever and they love you so, so much.
My mom is the most amazing woman in the world and I am 100% confident that she is the greatest mother in the world. She is loving, caring, genuine, hilarious, beautiful and fun. I hope that one day I can be half the woman she is. I come from a family that loves to joke around with each other, so suffice to say, we all have pretty tough skin. This is only to preface anything I say in the coming paragraph that she may not like.
My momma has a “typical mom” haircut — shoulder length, blonde and bangs. She wears clothes from ‘The Loft’ and wears cute flats with basically every outfit. She hasn’t aged a bit since high school (high school!!), a trait I can only hope I inherit. My mom loves my dad, my siblings and I and others with her whole heart and more, it is truly inspiring. Not only is she loving, but she is absolutely hilarious — another trait I hope I inherit. The jokes my mom has made throughout the years are ones for a scrapbook, which is a fact that my whole family can attest to. She can sew quilts and dresses and pretty much anything else she wants because her creativity is just that abundant. She drinks Diet Coke more than she drinks water and can go through an entire bag of candy corn in a week or less during the fall.
I know that she will always be up for a House Hunters or Fixer Upper marathon. She will have her pajamas on by 7:00 p.m., will be drinking a cup of tea and will do her sudoku puzzle while we watch, and she will enjoy the heck out of any girls’ night.
My mom has taught me how to make dinner out of anything we can find in the fridge, how to sew, how to be a friend and how to love. My momma gave me life and every day, she teaches me how to live it. I would definitely not be the person I am today without her. She is, undoubtedly, my best friend.
I can’t wait to be a mom someday. I hope that, like my mom, I’ll be a cool mom, going to all my kids’ events, making the best chocolate chip cookies, embarrassing my kids’ before they go to prom and maybe even one day having a “mom” haircut. I hope that I can be just like her, with all of her beautiful qualities.
Mom, I love you. Thank you for everything. Thank you, thank you, thank you <3
For those of you reading this, go and call your mom, or if you’re lucky enough to be close to her, go give her a hug and tell her how much she means to you. Your mom is one of the most important people in your life, so make her feel special. And remember, word to ya mother.
