The Best Lyrics From Hillsong Worship's Open Heaven Album
Hillsong United

Honestly, if you have not already gotten Hillsong Worship's Open Heaven album, what are you doing? Do it. Right now. This is definitely my favorite album that Hillsong has produced and in my opinion, it may be the most anointed album they have released. I know that is crazy to say since everything that Hillsong has ever given to the music world is pure art. Gifted is definitely an understatement when it comes to these guys. In this post, I have decided to focus on each song from the first half of this album. I will be giving you my favorite lyrics and then a little snip-it of insight on why I love them so much!

1. "O Praise the Name"

"He shall return in robes of white,
The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face."

This is my favorite part of the song, because it is so soft but holds such a strong promise. To think of the day that Jesus returns is far too extraordinary to grasp, but it makes for such an awe-filled moment in worship. Thinking about the day that I will see His sweet face: whether it be His return or mine, how could my gaze be fixed on anything else?

2. "Love On the Line"

"The greatest of all romance
Love of God my Savior"

It is so important to realize that any moment of truly embracing God's love is not equivalent to earthly love. A relationship with Him is the strongest, truest, purest love you could ever have and we get the opportunity to experience it.

3. "One Thing"

"Everything I have means nothing
Jesus, if You're not my one thing"

Jesus: that's all we need. Spending time with Jesus makes everything else seems so small.

4. "Open Heaven"

"Revelations of Your love
As I look to the heavens"

It's such a blessing to have a God who continues to reveal new things to us when we seek Him. When we focus solely on Him in worship, He fuels our Spirit and fills our hearts.

5. "Transfiguration"

"As I behold your beauty with unworthy eyes
The only song my soul can find to sing
Is Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah my King"

This is such a beautiful song because it expresses so much adoration. It reminds me of the moments that you get so lost in God's presence that you can't even speak or think straight -- just an overwhelming sense love and amazement.

6. "What a Savior"

"Oh what grace I've found in You my Jesus-
That my soul should entertain Your greatness"

So, how cool is it that we are on God's mind all of the time. That's the coolest.

7. "Heart Like Heaven"

"If you sought perfection
I'd die tryin' to reach it
But this broken heart is all You want"

He isn't a God who looks for perfection. He fathers the brokenhearted. He doesn't love us despite our brokenness. He loves us because we are broken. When we reject pride and surrender to our Father, He takes us in. He wants our hearts. He wants us.

8. "Jesus, I Need You"

"Hope be my anthem
Lord, when the world has fallen quiet"

These lyrics are a great prayer. This is saying that you choose to look to the goodness even in situations of darkness. With hope as your anthem, you will not listen to the voices of this world nor fear when evil comes, but instead, hold onto God's Word and trust in His plan. He will be our hope. We will have faith and wait with expectation.

So, there it is! Those are my favorite lyrics from the first eight songs on the album. I am looking forward to next week when I get to do the next eight. I hope you guys are encouraged to listen to this album, because that may or may not be what I am doing right now and it's awesome.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
