An Open Letter to My Best Friends from High School
Kathleen Danahy

Dear friends,

First off, I want to say that I am so proud of each of you. I can see that you are having the time of your life in college and are doing so many great things. You are accepting internships, becoming camp counselors, getting new jobs and finding what you truly want to do with your life. I cannot believe the people I call my best friends are already doing such great things with their lives. You are leaders on your campuses and I can see that you are enjoying everything around you. I can only imagine the things you will do when you have your degrees. I am very proud of you all, and I tend to brag on you when I get the chance.

I also miss you all immensely. I keep remembering all the fun times we had back in the day when we would stay up all night talking about random things and what our future as going to look like. It’s crazy to think that we are living the future our past-selves discussed. I see all of your snapchats, posts and pictures all the time and although I am happy that you’re doing well, I also miss being able to hang out with you at the drop of a hat. Not only is distance in the way, but so is our busy lives. Like I said before, you all are advancing your education and/or working now, so it will be hard to see each other even when we are all back in north Texas together. I miss you all so much, but I know that we can’t always be together all the time. We are all pursuing our passions and trying to do best for ourselves and that is all we can ask of each other at the end of the day.

Just because we don’t converse 24/7 anymore doesn’t mean our friendship has changed. I know that I can always count on you for anything I may need, despite the busyness of our schedules. You have always been the people I can lean on for everything in my life and I cannot thank you enough for being that support for me, or run up to my dorm room when I needed to vent to you. You are always there to answer my phone call and talk to me about anything I may need. I know that you are cheering me on from the sidelines, even if you don’t remind me daily. You have been the people who constantly encourage me to better myself and the world around me. You are the reason I am in college and pursuing my degree. You unconditionally believe in me and that support has been the push that keeps me motivated. I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends who are here for me, even after we have moved away for college.

I am so happy to have you in my life. I hope that one day we will all be able to get together before we all move away for good. It will be nice to catch up and see how everything in the academic semester and summer has gone for everyone. I know that we will always have our friendship, even if we aren’t able to see each other for a long time. I love you all so much. Remember that I am only a phone call away and I will always be there for you if you ever need me.

Take care of yourselves and do the great things you are destined for.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
