Dear Daniella,

First and foremost I want to tell you that I'm proud of you. Sophomore year of high school you decided that you wanted to join the Navy, you did and you're doing great in it! I'm proud of you, because not only did you make a big decision and stick with it at such an early age, but you've been doing so well in it. You're an inspiration, and I'm lucky to even be able to call you my best friend.

We became friends when we were 10. While we weren't very close back then, once we went to high school we became inseparable. We wore the same clothes, held hands in the hallway, we were literally joined at the hip. You became my other half. Throughout the years you've taught me so many things, and if it wasn't for your friendship I wouldn't be the woman that I am today. The once shy and quiet girl I once was is gone because you brought me out of my shell. I can't thank you enough for that.

Even though we went two years without seeing each other, we kept in touch and when I saw you for the first time in two years everything felt just like it did before you left. We have so many great memories together and I will always cherish them. You've always been an amazing friend to me. When I needed to vent, you were my counselor. When life tossed me in every direction, and I was lost, you gave me directions. When I was down, you picked me up. I am blessed to have you in my life.

Good luck with your deployment. I know it will go great because you excel at everything you do. You never give up, and you have nerves of steel. I've always admired those things about you. You are one of the strongest people I know. Please be safe, and come back soon! I love you so much!

Love,

Your best friend Aaliyah

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
