Throughout my first year of attending college at the University of Arizona, I made it a priority to discover the greatest restaurants in Tucson. This is no easy task on a college budget, however, I was able to stumble upon a few outstanding eateries. If you are an aspiring foodie or just want a fantastic meal, check out my favorite spots!
1. Tavolino Ristorante Italiano
A superb Italian fix can be hard to find, no fear, Tavolino has you covered! From brunch to dinner, the menu has a plethora of delicious options. The bruschetta and butternut squash pasta are to die for.
2. HUB Ice Cream Factory
Who doesn't appreciate a large bowl of ice cream? If you think all ice cream has equal value, look no further. The Hub Ice Cream Factory has a variety of unique ice cream flavors that you can mix for the perfect combination.
3. Illegal Pete's
Illegal Pete's is brand new to Tucson! It looks similar to Chipotle, but, don't be fooled. At a cheaper price, you can create any burrito, bowl or salad with all fresh ingredients. Better yet, they have freshly made queso you can lather your food in.
4. Cup Cafe
Ever tried an iron cast baked egg? I know I haven't. Before dining at Cup Cafe, I had no idea a brunch could have so much potential. The Cup Cafe is simply the best breakfast you can dream up. Plus, they arrange their platters so beautifully it could pass for art.
5. OBON Sushi Bar
Anyone who is a sucker for fresh sushi, poke and ramen will love this place. They taste even better than they look if that's even possible. Additionally, this is the only location in Tucson I've found with poke!
6. Reilly Craft Pizza and Drink
Just look at the picture, need I say more? Reilly's has a variety of authentic pizzas, kinds of pasta, appetizers and drinks! The best part is you can choose between crusts, bake and any topping you can think of.
7. Maynard's
Whether you're looking for a quick sandwich or a fancy steak, Maynard's has it all. Although my go-to is the Reuben, every plate I've seen Maynard's make looks legendary.
8. The Living Room
If you're not old enough to drink their hundreds of wine options, it's completely appropriate to drop in strictly for the cheese and meat platter. There is no harder decision than picking three out of the 12 cheeses. Did I mention they offer six kinds of bruschetta?
9. El Guero Canelo
Hands down, the best hot dog I've ever had! Never limit yourself to a regular old hot dog when Sonoran hot dogs exist. Let me tell you, once you try one of El Guero Canelo's Sonoran hot dogs, you'll never look back.
10. Lindy's On 4th
Last, but definitely not least, Lindy's On 4th. Only eat here if you're prepared to indulge in the best burger you've ever had. Along with the juiciest of all burgers, you can treat yourself to the loaded fries on the side.
