There are three things that I will always love (besides my family and friends) and that’s brunch, wine and coffee. I’ve taken many weekend trips to discover new, quaint coffee shops and have accumulated a list of my favorites that I feel like everyone needs to go to at least once. Pack your favorite book, some study materials or some friends and make your way over to my favorite coffee shops in South Florida.
1. Brew Urban Café - Ft. Lauderdale
Quite possibly my favorite coffee shop ever; it’s tucked away in a warehouse in the Fat Village District of Fort Lauderdale. When you walk in, you feel like you’re walking into the palace in "Beauty and the Beast." I make it a point to come here at least once a week for the staff and of course, the coffee. Try the lavender almond milk latte if you’re feeling daring, it’s my fave.
2. Panther Coffee - Wynwood, Miami
Right in the center of the ever so artsy Wynwood, Miami, Panther Coffee is a favorite for me and my siblings. The outdoor seating is centered around a large, shady tree with string lights and community style table. The lax atmosphere of Miami combined with the artsy feel of Wynwood, it’s no wonder why this is a favorite to so many. Try the cortado and a pastry, you can’t go wrong.
3. The Alchemist - Wilton Manors
Tucked away in a bungalow, this shop is super earthy and delicious. They’re known for their “slicers” and espresso ice cubes. It’s great on a hot summer afternoon, or even a quick sober brunch. They also roast their own beans in house. Try the bulletproof coffee and the brie, honey and almond slicer.
4. Ginger Beard Coffee - Tampa Bay
This little gem is in Tampa Bay's Channel District, known for their nitro-cold brew. The owners are amazing and have pretty rad beards, hence the name. They share a space with a local beer bar too, so once you’re done with the delicious cold brew you can get some local brews as well. Try the cold brew and the famous Datz doughnuts.
5. The Blind Tiger - Ybor City
This coffee shop is super cute in the heart of Tampa’s historic Ybor City. Their staff is extremely knowledgable about all types of coffee, coffee beans and brewing. They have a ‘co-work’ space as well for freelancers. It’s a super chill spot to go to before bar hopping all around Ybor. Try the café bon-bon or the old faithful cortado.
Take this list, go out and explore, drink some amazing coffee and you can come back and thank me later. Happy caffeinating!
