There was never a dull moment outside if you had roller blades or a Razor scooter.

The journey to adulthood is all about gaining maturity and responsibility, but as we grow and develop, we often lose parts of ourselves in the process. Our innocence, zeal for life and other important characteristics that what defined us as children fade away. It isn't until we talk to the children today or look through old boxes of toys in our basement that we realize how much we cherish childhood.

Here are some of the things I wish I could bring back from my childhood:

1. Play Doh

Play Doh will always be a staple of childhood because of the variety and room for creativity. Whether it is making a generic snake or building a city, Play Doh has, and always will, hold a special place in my heart.

2. Disney Channel TV shows

Whether it was "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody," "Phineas and Ferb," "Wizards of Waverly Place" or even "Hannah Montana," Disney Channel shows never failed to disappoint. The best part about watching Disney Channel as a kid was when individual shows collaborated with each other and made specials!

3. American Girl Dolls

American Girl Dolls are timeless and every girl's dream. With the option of customizing your own doll so that it looks like you, these dolls have always had a slight edge over other toys. The American Girl Doll store in New York was always one of my favorite places to go because they have a special salon, restaurant and other activities designed just for kids to do with their dolls.

4. Roller Blades and razor scooters

5. "Webkinz"

"Webkinz" was the ultimate interactive website, filled with games and things to explore. They were a perfect birthday gift to give and receive because they supplied endless hours of entertainment.

6. "The Magic Tree House" series

These were the books that dominated every kid's childhood that grew up in the early 2000s!

7. Field Day with Firecracker popsicles

Field Day in elementary school was always the best day of the year. In my school, we spent the day outside playing games, such as tug of war and doing relay races. At the end of the day, we always got a firecracker popsicle, which quickly became a staple for the summer.

8. The Nintendo DS Lite

One of the first electronic devices I got was the Nintendo DS Lite, along with games such as Mario Kart and Nintendogs. The Nintendo experience was unique because of its DS download feature, which allowed games to be multiplayer.

9. Mancala

Best game ever, hands down.

10. The "Home Alone" series

The best movies to watch around Christmas time — or any time of the year for that matter.

It only takes a small trip down memory lane to bring out the inner kid in everyone!

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
