My two favorite things are eating and going on adventures. So, this summer me and my best friend have decided to go on an adventure to a new breakfast place once every week and on these adventures we have discovered some pretty cute, yummy breakfast joints you need to try out! So grab your best friend and go enjoy some delicious food in cute little spots because after all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

1. Toast Coffeehouse, Patchogue/Port Jefferson.

This cute, homey feeling restaurant has recently opened a second location in Patchogue so now people on both the North and South Shore can enjoy their delicious food. They offer new, unique tastes on traditional meals such as cinnamon swirl French toast, raspberry cheesecake pancakes, and sweet potato waffles. And a bonus; the prices are comparable to big chain breakfast joints such as IHop.

2. Maureen's Kitchen, Smithtown.

This cute little restaurant located in Smithtown is decorated in cow printed upholstery and red accents and makes you feel like you stepped out of a '50s themed diner from down South. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating in a screened in porch and the food is to die for. Just make sure you bring cash with you when you go because they don't accept credit or debit cards!

3. Crazy Beans, Stony Brook

Similar to Maureen's Kitchen this black, white and red food joint is decorated in a retro fashion as well. Commonly known for their array of latte flavors, ranging from the usual caramel and hazelnut to the unique flavors of apple pie, toasted marshmallow and cupcake this place is a most go for all coffee lovers out there! And for those don't like coffee, don't worry; their cannoli stuffed French toast and blueberry pecan pancakes are tasty enough to make it worth the trip!

4. Love Lane Kitchen, Mattituck

This quaint little café offers not only the cutest indoor and outdoor seating area, but also a unique take on your usual comfort food. Serving breakfast in a healthy, upscale way, Love Lane Kitchen offers breakfast until 2 p.m. for all the late risers out there! If you're into healthy food that doesn't compromise taste, definitely check this café out because you won't be disappointed.

5. The Cook Room, Middle Country

This cute little diner is known for their low prices and delicious food. So not only will you leave feeling full, but your wallet will leave almost as full. The portions are large and the people are so friendly you cant help but leave feeling ready to take on the day ahead.

6. Toast & Co., Huntington

This fun bright breakfast joint has such a lively and upbeat atmosphere. Decorating in lime green and orange the positive vibes given off is a great way to start your morning. More importantly, of course, if the delicious food they have to offer. Specifically known for their stuffed everything -- French toast, pancakes, waffles -- you can have your choice on whether you want to eat healthy with fruits such as strawberries, blueberries and bananas or treat yourself with cannoli, Nutella and chocolate.

7. Brownstones Coffee, Amityville

Although currently closed for renovations, Brownstones plans to reopen soon with the same great taste with a new look. Improvements are being made to create additional seating, a to-go area and a comfortable waiting room. However, the delicious food is most certainly worth the wait. Known for their French toast bites topped with fruits, caramel, Nutella, or fondue sauces, Brownstones is a must go for anyone with a sweet tooth.

8. Javier's Café, Smithtown

The small restaurant located on Main Street in Smithtown offers both indoor and outdoor seating in a warm homey atmosphere. Along with the homey décor, the food also offers the same homey feeling. The staff is super friendly and your food is always prepared quickly and tastes delicious.

So, grab a friend and get to eating. Remember, you can't start your day without a delicious breakfast!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
