The Best of Beauty Bloggers

In a previous article, I created a quick guide to female skateboarders you should know, but now I'm moving onto another growing enterprise of women: the world of beauty. Since the inception of YouTube, a whole network of makeup artists, lifestyle bloggers and "beauty gurus" has emerged. These creators become icons, content creators and idols for many of their viewers. This beauty industry is rapidly growing with more and more of these beauty authorities appearing on the scene. That being said, there is a lot of competition out there. Beauty gurus have to be relatable, original, and put out fresh and interesting content continuously to become popular. Based on this criteria, I have put together a list of what I think are some of the best of beauty out there today.

1) Rian Phin.
Watch for: DIYs and Get Ready With Mes.
Follow her here!

Rian has a unique look and is always fashion forward. She's a pro thrifter and has an eye for putting together looks with a mix of both old and new pieces. But the real draw to her is her comfort in front of a camera. Watching one of her GRWM videos is like chatting with a best friend before going out and she often tackles important issues at the same time. Rian is also a contributor for Rookie Mag, where she shares a lot of her DIY projects. You can get to DIY-ing with the help of her videos as well!

2) Asia Jackson
Watch for: Makeup looks and Vlogs.
Follow her here!

Asia is an aspiring model and actress so she's on top of all the beauty, health and fashion tips you should know. She posts recipes, makeup tutorials and other lifestyle videos, always including her sunny personality in her work. But her most interesting videos, in my opinion, are her vlogs. Not only is her personality great on camera but it's an interesting insight into the life of a prospective L.A. actress/model.

3) Jenn Im aka clothesencounters.
Watch for: Lookbooks.
Follow her here!

Jenn's style is without compare in the beauty guru world. She is both hip and classy and showcases it in her work. Some of her best creations are her lookbook videos. Whether it's a seasonal collection of outfits or a glimpse into her own weekly clothing, her style is both inspiring and very accessible with its mix of classic staples and personal twists.

4) Marzia aka CutiePieMarzia.
Watch for: Lookbooks and Variety. (Bonus: cute pugs!)
Follow her here!

Some may know her as the paramour of YouTube mogul PewdiePie but Marzia is her own star. Marzia has awesome lookbook style as well, with a very original sense of fashion. But the best of her channel is the mix of content she creates. Her "Marzia Time" videos mix together fun DIYs, fun challenges and even whimsical science experiments. Marzia is a definite jack of all trades.

5) Lindy Ng aka bubzbeauty.
Watch for: Makeup and lifestyle. (Bonus: cute baby.)
Follow her here!

Lindy, known by her faithful followers as Bubz, is one of the most genuine internet personalities out there. She's humorous and very open in all her videos, from comedy shorts to makeup tutorials. Some of her best work involves her just being herself and sharing positivity and the reality of her life with her viewers. Being a young mother and beauty guru at the same time is not easy but she handles it with grace and humility and it's always a pick me up to watch one of her vlogs at the end of a rough day. (And her infant son Isaac has a lot to do with that too.)

As the internet continues to grow in importance, the personalities and lives of its icons grow more and more important as well. Check these gurus out and see if they can capture your interest and maybe your heart as well.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
