5 Lady YouTubers You Need In Your Life

I'll confess, I started watching YouTube videos in middle school. At the time it was strictly to watch any video dealing with "Twilight" (cringe) or bad punk music, but over the years YouTube has gained a community of content creators that no one could've expected. Just about any hobby, interest, or following can find its niche on YouTube. I personally enjoy watching videos that deal with fashion and beauty, traveling, writing, societal issues, or a combination of all of the aforementioned.

These are the kickass lady YouTubers I come back to most and I think if you give them a watch, you'll love their content just as much as I do.

Disclaimer: You may not actually make it through the entire article, as you might become distracted watching various YouTube videos. This happened while writing the article, so it is in no way my fault or responsibility for what ensues. Good luck.

1. Jessie of sunbeamsjess

The comments attest to and I can confirm that her voice and therefore her vlogs are extremely calming. I don't know if it's the accent mixed with the tone of her voice or how she words things, but her vlogs are perfect to lay in bed with a cup of tea and drift off to sleep (once you've set the tea down, of course). In no way does this make them boring, as she's usually traveling somewhere or commuting back and forth between London and Edinburgh. Her main channel videos are perfect for anyone interested in fashion, beauty, or university life. Her videography is always aesthetically pleasing and her lookbooks have a lovely retro vibe with synthy music and silky montages.

2. Estée Lalonde

I've been watching her since high school and despite gaining a HUGE following since then, she's remained the same bubbly, hilarious, and truthful content creator. You'll be jealous of her life as you watch her vlogs, which include venturing around London with her boyfriend and greyhound named Reggie (I mean, come on) and traveling. She grew up in Canada, lives in London, and is about to release a book in a few months. Her videos cover beauty and fashion, as well as important topics like feminism, sex, and self-image. Her videos will keep you entertained, but her personality will keep you coming back.

3. Anna of ViviannaDoesMakeup

Her videos are perfect for those days where you just need some cheeriness and positivity in your life. I've never seen a more chipper, more put together person. If you're into fitness, eating delicious (but healthy) food, beauty and fashion, and organizing any and everything, then her videos are for you. She's great at giving motivational advice and before you know it, you'll be going to the gym and cleaning out your closet before you even realize. She's also self-deprecating in the most charming way, and I know that's something I can get behind.

4. Katy Bellotte of HelloKaty

She's a sorority girl from small-town America, but after watching one video you'll feel like she's your best friend. Her videos take a unique approach in their presentation, and her lifestyle and advice videos will inspire you and even bring you to tears (in a good way). She has on-point brows and the ability to make you feel like you could talk to her about anything. Her fashion videos have a bohemian, sultry vibe that makes it feel like her channel is always stuck on summer time.

5. Orion Carloto

If you're dark and twisty and like to read poems about feminism and heartbreak, you'll basically want to be her best friend. I know I do. She's quirky, has, like, really awesome clothes, and is #relatable. Though her videos are scary these days, when they come around they're worth watching.

So, these videos inevitably won't be everyone's cup of tea, but hopefully you discovered a new channel to add to your subscription list. Thank you ladies, for helping us with our style, health, giving us our daily dose of travel, literature, etc., and providing some great life advice. You keep doing you.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

A Few Thoughts Every College Freshman Has

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
