Summer in Florida is here and for those of you who are staying in state for your vacation, look no further to find the best spots to sunbathe, explore or adventure near you. If you are looking for a fun summer beach day wherever you are in Florida, consider these beaches that offer unique qualities in North, Central and South Florida.

If you're doing a summer session at FSU or are staying in Florida for the summer, these different beaches are great options for a weekend getaway or day of fun.

1. Grayton Beach

Grayton Beach is a part of Walton County and is located in the middle of Destin and Panama City Beach. This beach is a state park that borders the Gulf of Mexico, which not only offers a clean white sand beach but many activities due to its location such as hiking, paddling, and even camping. Grayton Beach gives visitors access to both the ocean and coastal dune lakes which makes it the perfect destination if you want more than just a tan.

2. Panama City Beach

Another option in North Florida is Panama City Beach which offers a more crowded and populous experience. If you are looking for a beach with more attractions, nightlife and people in general, this is the perfect destination for you. Panama City Beach has a pier park which is full of restaurants, entertainment, and stores for shopping, which is open to all beachgoers.

3. Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach is one of the most known beaches in central Florida due to its clear water. Clearwater Beach borders the Gulf of Mexico on the west side of Florida, which offers a comfortable ocean temperature to cool off from the beaming sun during the summer. Clearwater has many festivals and restaurants in downtown which is walking distance from the ocean. The events, people, and aesthetic of this beach make it a perfect getaway for a hot summer day or vacation.

4. Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach borders the east side of central Florida on the Atlantic Ocean offering a beautiful shoreline and very blue ocean. Daytona Beach has many attractions that are very close to the beach which could make for a day full of adventure. Daytona's boardwalk and pier sits right on the beach is the perfect break from the hot sandy shore. This beach is the perfect destination if you are looking to explore the local entertainment options of Daytona while still being able to lay out or swim in the Atlantic Ocean.

5. 85th Street Beach

This beach located in Miami is the perfect location if you want to stray from large and loud crowds. 85th Street Beach, unlike many South Florida beaches, does not have many hotels or houses on its stretch of sand, so if you're looking for an open and quiet beach day in the city, this is the perfect spot.

6. Smathers Beach

Smathers Beach located in Key West is a large public beach on the south end of the island. This spot is known for its cleanliness and views, so if you're looking for a photogenic beach in South Florida, this is the perfect spot. Smathers also has food trucks and activities that can add more fun to your day at the beach.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
