If there’s one thing we all can expect each year on Halloween, it’s that 99.99 percent of the costumes we see will be #basic. Although half the girls on your social media timelines are wearing the same kitty or bunny costume, each one has its own unique twist to it. So, in honor of #Halloweekend2017, here’s a list of the most basic costumes you’re seeing (and will be seeing for the next month) splashed across your timelines right now:
1. Playboy Bunny.
With the passing of Hugh Hefner, all the basic girls had to pay tribute to him by dressing up as Playboy Bunnies. All that’s necessary to slay this costume is a black bodysuit, bunny ears, tights and heels. If he were still here, I’m sure he’d be proud. Hoppy Halloween!
2. River Vixen.
With "Riverdale" on the rise, there’s no better way to channel your favorite characters than to dress like a River Vixen for Halloween? It’s cute and comfy — the best of both worlds!
3. Kitty Cat.
The sexy kitty cat costume is possibly the easiest, most basic costume of all. All you need are the cat ears and you’re set! This is every lazy basic girl’s dream. (Full disclosure: Kitty Cat was my personal favorite costume I wore this year.)
4. Sexy Cop.
If you wore this costume and didn’t caption your picture in it something along the lines of, “you're under arrest,” you’re not doing #basic right.
5. Risky Business.
If you’re all about minimal effort, risky business is the go-to costume for Halloween. Just throw a plain white t-shirt, sunglasses and comfy socks together and you’re good to go.
6. "Alien."
Is this costume really, ‘out of this world?’ Probably not. Is this costume really cute and fun? Yes. Alien costumes might have the most room to be unique. Paint your face green, wear metallic colors, play around with some fun makeup — the possibilities have no limit.
7. Gypsy/Fortune Teller.
Wrap that ugly scarf your mom gave you for Christmas a few years ago around your head and you’re set! You’re now a hot gypsy about to tell unsuspecting people their fortune.
8. Skeleton.
Are you really a skeleton if half your face isn’t painted like a black/white skull? Probably not. While the costume part of this look requires minimal effort, painting your face to look spooky and hopefully semi-realistic takes a good amount of time.
Happy Halloween to all the Basics! Never let anyone tell you your costume wasn't the best, because you know it was.
