Winter break has ended and we are finding ourselves making our way back to school. Some people may not want to go back. I could understand not wanting to leave your families, pets, a comfortable bed, or home-cooked meals but going back to college is starting a new chapter. These are a few of my favorite parts about coming back to school

1. My friends

During the break, I had total family time. While I did enjoy that a lot, I wanted to see my friends from college. They are miles and miles away from me so unfortunately, I was unable to. When I arrived back at school, I was so excited to see my best friend.

This was the best part of coming back, to be back with the person that will always support you and will always keep your life from getting boring. I also couldn’t wait to see my roommate and our neighbors. There is never a time when I am around them that I don’t have a smile on my face.

2. Different classes

Fall semester is over, onto spring. Luckily, I don’t have to retake any classes so I get to have a full schedule of brand new classes. I don’t know about you but I enjoy school, I like getting homework and having something to do all the time. It is also exciting that class is getting you that much closer to graduating.

Each of these courses is making you work for your degree, you may think that a class you are currently taking has no relation to what you are majoring in but you are wrong and soon you will understand that.

3. New classmates

One of the downfalls of new classes is more likely than not you are in a class with a bunch of strangers. There is only one way to make this a positive part and that is to get to know your classmates and create bonds with new people. Classes are not only great because they give you something to do but they also give you company.

4. New routine

I am a big fan of routines, I think they are very helpful. While I was home I didn’t want to get into a routine because I knew I would have to make a new one very soon. So being back at school, I started my new Spring routine and have yet to break it. Routines keep you on track, focused, and help you get done what you need to get done. It helps start and end your day with structure.

5. Never being bored

When I was home during the break I lounged around most of the time and was quite honestly a little bored. Don’t get me wrong my family and I did have a lot of fun but sometimes there is a difference between home fun and school fun.

Being back at school my friends and I sometimes go out at night or we stay in and just hang out. Sometimes we go on bike rides or walks or anything that comes to mind. There is always something new to explore and that’s what we do.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
