13 Benefits Of Having A Big Sister, Or Better Yet, Two

13 Benefits Of Having A Big Sister, Or Better Yet, Two

They might sound like a pain, but they are a pain you can't help but love.

You may be the eldest sister or have no sisters or you're the youngest and you can't seem to imagine what I could possibly be about to list in this article. It may not be roses and dandelions all the time, but a sister has much more pros than cons. You will fight, bicker, and annoy the crap out of each other, but what do you expect you're siblings?

It's normal and all those things get outweighed by the reasons below.

1. An extra closet for you.

You will always have a second closet to search through when you get sick of yours because we all have those days where nothing you try on is working. The only downfall is she might just reciprocate and search through your closet as well.

2. She can teach you all those maturing girl things.

We all have gone through it. Those awkward years when you transition from being a child to being a teenager. She will teach you everything you don't want to ask your parents about, especially not your father.

3. You can always count on her brutal honesty.

No matter when, where, or what it involves she will always tell you like it is. She won't be a friend who is too scared to overstep. She isn't one of your parents so you can't pull the "You have to say that cause I'm your kid" card.

4. Side kick at all family events.

You know those long, sometimes uncomfortable or tiring family events? She is always there to help you get through them. Basically, you can suffer together.

5. She knows you better than you know yourself.

While you think you know yourself the best or maybe you imagine it must be your mother who knows you the most. Sorry to break it to you, but it is most likely your sister because she's watched you grow up your entire life and she knows all the dirty secrets you would never tell your mother.

6. You get Maid of Honor rights.

This one is a lot of work, but definitely a winner. I just got to experience this one and it's like nothing you've ever experienced before so look forward to it and take it all in!

7. She will always help you through everything.

Almost everything you go through she's already had to deal with, so she might just save your life. She will be your number one person for your life and all life experiences

8. Hand me downs - may not sound like a pro, but they are.

Hand me downs sound like a killer, but it kind of just means you get a hell of a lot more toys, clothes, and goodies.

9. Growing up, it was a sleepover every night.

You practically grew up in a house of sleepovers because you always had a friend to go swimming a night with, eat ice cream with, or watch movies with every night.

10.  She helps you defend yourself to your parents.

She will always be your partner when your parents crack down on you. While there's two of them and one of you, jokes on them because she helps level the playing field.

11. She's always there to master your hair or makeup.

When your eye shadow won't blend or your hair is curling wacky – your sister will come to the rescue.

12.  Practically twins.

You'll never be alone because you are as close as twins. You can literally depend on her to always tag along for whatever you wish to do whether that's a trip to Publix, a movie binge watching night, late night ice cream, run outside or a tanning buddy – she's your gal.

13. A second mother.

While she's your best friend, she will also be another mother for you when you need it.

Hopefully, this gave you an idea of just a few of the wonderful reasons you should call your elder sister and tell her you to love her right now. If your as lucky as me and have two sisters, meaning double of all the reasons I listened above then call both. If you're luckier than me and have even more, you might need to settle for a well thought out group text or start dialing now.

To The Best Friend That Turned Into A Stranger

We were the type of friends that were so close people would mistake us for sisters. Then we went to college.

When you hear the world soulmate you think of the person you're destined to spend the rest of your life with.

The person you marry, have kids with, and love unconditionally for the rest of your life. For me, I found my soulmate. Not in a boy, but in a best friend.

We were the type of friends that were so close people would mistake us for sisters.

Some even thought my little sister was your twin. We did everything together, and quickly you became apart of my family. I think you spent the last 4 years staying at my house more than your own. Even when I was 10 hours away at college you were still there with my family.

We went through the ups and downs of high school together.

We were there for each other through every heartbreak, trauma, and loss. Even 549 miles away from each other, I knew you would be there anytime I needed you because we always stuck by each others sides.

We even got tattoos together, because we were the type of friends that would never not be in each other's lives. When people saw me, they saw you. If you weren't around, they would ask where you were.

Until everything fell apart, I left college and you went to college.

We didn't see each other as often as we did but we still talked. I could feel you pulling away and I didn't know why. You found a new friend, and i am so happy you did because the last thing I would want, would for you to be alone in college. But you quickly replaced me. You would come home during breaks and spend 1 day with me and the rest with her.

The reasoning why you said you weren't spending time with me was hurtful, and it's not something I'll mention here. But just know it hurts. Asking for you to give me back the key I gave you for my house hurt.

I know you've been through a lot, and even after all the fighting, I reached out to you.

Because I will always care about you and love you like a sister. But you can only try so hard to fight for someone that doesn't want to be in your life anymore.

I hope you find pure happiness, you deserve it. Just know I miss you and I always will. No one prepared me for the pain I would feel when losing my soulmate.

5 Reasons Why Going To College With Your Family Is Better Than Doing Your Own Thing

Most people go to college to get away from family, but I went to college to be with my family.

Halfway through my sophomore year at Elon University, I made the decision to transfer to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW). It was an easy decision to make, given I had been making the four-hour drive to Wilmington every weekend to stay with my cousins in their apartment.

Both of my cousins, Andrew and Hunter, attend UNCW and raved to me about how amazing it was--not just to go down for a weekend and party, but also to go to school and get an education.

As my first semester at UNCW comes to a close, I've discovered that going to college with my family is by far the only way I would ever survive my next couple of years as an undergrad. While there is a fairly long list, I've come up with five reasons why attending college with family is better than attending a university by yourself!

1. You might end up in the same classes

While this hasn't happened for me yet, I already know that if my cousins and I were in the same class, none of us would ever get anything done!

2. You never have to sit by yourself at lunch

Every weekday, I am fortunate enough to have lunch with both of my cousins in between classes. Nothing beats knowing I get to see them for a little bit to give me a break during my chaotic class schedule.

3. Parties are AWESOME (much to our parents' dismay)

It's always a party whenever our family gets together, but doing it every weekend? Heck yeah!

4. You always have people to lean on when college gets rough

Knowing that my cousins are a two-minute-drive from my apartment is incredibly reassuring. Whenever I have a bad day or just need someone to talk to, they are always right there.

5. You've already got you're best friends!

"We're the three best friends that anyone could have!"

Everyone always talks about "finding your people" when you get to college... truth be told, I've had "my people" my entire life.

Now that we're all at the same school, I've never been happier. Going to college with your family can seem like a nightmare to some, but for me, it has been the best decision I've made in a long time.

Although, there is one question that is still asked from time to time..."who decided to let all three of these youngins' into the same school?"
