I will start this off by saying I am my mother's daughter.

I bet you're thinking, "Well, I'm my mother's daughter, too." Yes, my mom gave birth to me almost 23 years ago, but over those 23 years, I have discovered that I really am my mother's daughter. The ladies who are so much like their mother that it's frightening sometimes; you will understand. Here are 20 signs that you're your mother's daughter:

1. Strangers come up to you thinking they know you because you look so much like your mom.

2. Also, strangers come up to you that are old friends or distant family of your mom's and instantly know that (in my case) "That's Peggy's daughter!" No questions are asked.

3. Speaking of family, at family reunions it's no question whose daughter you are.

4. When friends meet your mom for the first time the first thing they say is, "Wow! You're the spitting image of your mom!"

5. You will hear, "You're the spitting image of your mom," more than any other phrase in your lifetime.

6. You think to yourself quite often, "If I look so much like my mom I'll surely age as beautifully as she has, right? I hope so."

7. When people say that you look more like your dad than your mom you automatically assume they are insane. They obviously are wrong.

8. You compare pictures of you and your mom at the same age and almost die at how freakishly you look like twins. Literally, the only difference between my mom at five years old and myself at the same age is I was blonde and she was a brunette. That is it, people.

9. Your friends love your mom as much as they do you because you're so much alike in personality.

10. Sometimes your friends take up with your mom more than you because ya know, she's wise and junk.

11. You've never thought for one second in your life that you were adopted. There's just no way.

12. Your mom gets you more than anyone else because you're literally almost the exact same person.

13. If your mom is a crazy cat lady, you might as well accept that you'll be one, too.

14. You may never question being adopted, but you'll question if you're a clone.

15. Over the years you'll discover more and more how freakishly you are alike.

16. You don't have to question where most of your characteristics come from because 99.99 percent of them you know for sure come from your mom.

17. You question if your mom is just an older version of yourself from the future pretending to be your mom.

18. You are thankful every day that you have a mom who also is your best friend.

19. You are thankful that you have someone so similar to you to walk with you through life; someone who understands you better than yourself sometimes.

20. You'll eventually accept that you'll grow up to be almost exactly like your mom. And you can only hope that you'll match her in love, compassion, beauty, strength, and wisdom.

I love you mama cat! Thank you for all that you do!

Much love,

Kelsey

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
