It's a lifestyle that many people are not willing to commit to. Many people think it's a joke, and will put down the people who choose to live this lifestyle due to their ignorance on the cruelty of the food industry.
In our society, it is not at all necessary to consume animal products. Yet, everyone is made to believe that we need to consume animal products to be "healthy" and have a sustainable diet, when in reality it is doing nothing but causing obesity and disease.
The people who choose to go vegan really benefit from the lifestyle change. The risk of cancer is greatly reduced, if not gone completely. Also a number of other diseases are also eliminated such as heart disease, high blood pressure, lower rates of obesity, etc.
Along with just the health benefits, it's also a moral and compassionate mindset that really motivates people to go vegan. There is lots of research and documentaries about the cruel things that animals go through just so that we can all have food. Hearing about it is one thing, while actually seeing the cruel acts with your own eyes really does seal the deal. Many people don't want to see it because they don't want to believe what really goes on and they have been ignorant for so long that they just continue to live that way.
A vegan lifestyle it is a plant based diet with lots of carbohydrates. A lot of people freak out over this because in our society carbs are considered to be the devil. Everyone shy's away and purposefully avoids carbs when really that is what we really need along with lots of fruits and vegetables. Living this lifestyle is sustainable and it benefits not only yourself, but the animals and the planet.
Nowadays it is quite easy to finally decide to be a vegan. There are many vegan recipe books, but what's even better is YouTube. There are lots of channels dedicated to the vegan lifestyle. Freelee the Banana Girl and The Vegan Couple are just among the many, many channels who are informing the world about veganism and trying to help people make the leap to becoming vegan.
If the modern society started to become vegan now, we could also start saving the planet and all the lives of animals. Americans view eating dogs in other countries as "gross" and "unethical" because our society believes that those animals have feelings, which of course they do, but when it comes to eating cows, pigs, chickens, etc. we don't think twice. Which is crazy because all animals have feelings, not just household pets. So if our society took our views and applied them to all animals then we have the chance to thrive.
