Being that friend, you feel that you aren’t important. You feel as if you are the leftover friend. You walk behind everyone when the sidewalk isn't big enough. You are the one who just is kind of there. You can sit at the table with your friends and be ignored no matter what you try and say. You are the one they forget to invite when they do things.
You are the last choice to hang out with. You don't stand out in any particular way. You are the amazingly talented one. You aren't the could be a model one. You aren’t the super smart one. You aren’t the super outgoing one. You aren’t the shy one. You are just sort of there.

You are always worried they will find someone better than you and replace you. Anytime one of them doesn’t respond to you or doesn’t talk to you, you worry that they have decided to leave you behind and find someone new.

But in your heart you think it is a lie. You think you are unimportant to the people around you. You are just a body there to fill up the empty space at the table.
Being that friend sucks so much but as someone who has always been that friend things get so much better when you finally find the perfect mesh of friends.
You will find a group of friends who with make you not that friend. You will be an individual. You won’t blend in. You will be the talented one at something the other aren’t so great at. And when the feeling of being that friend fades away you are finally free to be who you have always wanted to be.

You are an important role in the group. You can have your voice be heard in a conversation. Your friends care about your opinions and will listen to whatever you have to say.
