Whether you have or haven't seen the Netflix Original Series "House of Cards," you, at least, know of the strapping, intimidating and downright presidential protagonist Frank Underwood. Although I am only halfway through the second season, I am confident in saying that at this point in the show I know somewhat about who Frank Underwood and, at least, what his goals are. He is determined, and he isn't afraid to do things in order to get what he wants.
*Spoiler Now, I'm not saying you need to murder people to cover your tracks and get things done but it seems like we could all use a little bit of Frank Underwood in our lives. What exactly do I mean by that?
Throughout the show, Frank is bombarded with problems from his constituents as well as his fellow politicians and yet manages always to end up on top where he ultimately becomes the President of the United States and acquires his ultimate goal. During our own lives, we are in a sense just like Frank, we know what we want but we can't always get to it. Now I'm not saying you need to commit treason or do any other unlawful thing but Frank, in the end, makes his goals come to him because of him not being afraid to go against what others want at times. In order to make an omelet, you have to crack a few eggs. It's important to have a compassionate and caring side during most of your lives but it seems like when the crap hits the fan you need to dig deep and think... "What would Frank Underwood do?" How would a powerful, deceiving person such as Frank become a part of your lifestyle in order for you to succeed? Besides talking to the audience and breaking the fourth wall, acquiring a southern accent and an addiction to pork ribs, most of what Frank is, is the key to use at times in your life.
Ok, so maybe I am going a little off the deep end when I say you should aim to be Frank Underwood in parts of your life. I guess what you should really take from your Netflix binge of a psychopathic killer aiming to be the most powerful man in the world and succeeding is, that anyone who wants to get where they are going needs to relate it to being in the West Wing of the White House. Make every decision as if the entire country is affected by it. Treat your coworkers and higher ups in life as if they are other countries, so you must act carefully and think of every consequence. At the same time, when you become the POTUS or whatever you aim for, always remember to go back and enjoy the little things, such as a plate of delicious ribs that you so deserved.
