The week before heading back to school is filled with preparation. You want to make sure you have everything you need to move back down to school, catch up with all your friends at home, and tie up any lose ends from your summer responsibilities. Here are some of the things I am sure to do my last week at home before heading back for the new school year.
Schedule tons of last minute appointments
Whenever I’m home I make sure to hit the dentist, doctor, eye doctor, etc. to make since I still haven’t found replacements in my college town and want to make sure I am up to date with everything medically. However, I seem to leave all of these appointments until the last possible moment, and end up having to go to them all in the same week.
Get my hair and nails done
Nothing beats your hometown salon. You know and trust the stylists and manicurists because you have seen them your whole life, and as an added bonus you get to catch up on all the town gossip you secretly love to hear.
Eat all of my favorite foods
For some reason every time I leave town I act like it’s the end of the world and I am never going to be able to visit my favorite restaurant or have my favorite home cooked meals again. Granted, five months is a long time to be away from your favorites, but I always milk it as much as I can to ensure I get a taste of all the goodies before heading back to school.
Find an excuse to go “back to school shopping”
Sure, in theory I am a functioning adult, who already has everything she needs to succeed in school, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to take advantage of redecorating every change I get. Do I need three new throw pillows? No. Am I going to get them anyway? Heck ya.
Complete last minute work
During the final week of your internship or job chances are you have a few things to catch up on that you have been avoiding, but now that you’re leaving it’s crunch time and you have to scramble to get it all done in time.
Soak up all the benefits of being home
Meet up with all your old friends, snuggle with your pets, and enjoy being in your own bed in your own home with your family and all the comforts that come with.
Enjoy it while you can, the school year is almost upon us.
