So your best friend is moving. Maybe it is to a new state, across the country, or across the world. It could be for any number of reasons, but it's still a BIG change.
At first it's really exciting! Your best friend is moving to a cool new place! If they're moving for health reasons (which mine was) you are SO happy that they'll finally feel some sort of relief.
You spend your time watching Netflix and doing what you've always done together: nothing.
You constantly brag about how brave your friend is for going on this adventure all on their own. Moving out is a big deal!
You go into denial. You pretend it's not happening. You tell yourself you have more time than you really do. Or maybe you actually think that you have all the time in the world. In reality, three months goes by quickly. Maybe you cry and scream a little bit.
Then, the dreaded 'Going away party' happens and it really hits you. You may need to go into the bathroom and compose yourself a few times. Don't be surprised if you zone out and think about dumb memories frequently during the party. It hurts that you're not going to see your best friend when ever you feel like it. They start becoming all nostalgic and saying sappy things.
You stay at their house until two in the morning the night before they leave. You only leave when they're about to pass out and they kick you out. Then you keep asking for 'just one more hug, then I SWEAR I'll leave your house.' Although your friend is sleepy, they happily oblige.
You come home and you realize that things are going to be different now. You wont be able to pick up and go to the movies or watch television with them whenever you please.
You basically have no clue what you're going to do without that person by your side.
You pretend to be tough. But everyone reaches their breaking point. And even though it's only 'See You Later' you can basically feel your heart breaking.
BUT have no fear. You will see your partner in crime soon enough. Plus you have an excuse to go somewhere you've never been to before!
