Because of Who He is

Who are you seeking?

11
Because of Who He is
Jessie Burdette

Take a moment to think through your average day. How do you spend most of your time? What kind of things do you talk about the most? How many hours do you waste on social media? I'm preaching to the choir here, trust me, but this is something I've been convicted of lately. If I'm honest, I spend too much time on my phone and not enough time in the Word. I text more than I pray. I freak out when problems arise and often go to my friends first instead of God. I worry about raising my grades more than I worry about building my relationship with Him. I'm guilty of seeking things other than the Lord.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else? We seem to put Christ on the back burner and keep telling ourselves we'll get to it tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes. Christ should be on the forefront of our mind so that all we do is done with Him in mind.

Because of who He is, I don't have to worry. We can praise Him because He is bigger than our issues, stresses, and problems. He can mend a broken heart, fix a friendship, and give us the help we need to make it through a school week alive and well. He is enough. Give Him your worries and see what He gives you in return.

Because of who He is, I can have joy. I don't mean happiness from a good grade or a fun night with your best friends. I mean fulfilling joy that can only come from the Heavenly Father. When we are seeking the Lord, we can rejoice in Him and find true joy.

Because of who He is, I have hope for tomorrow. I have a reason for living today, even if tomorrow doesn't come. My reason for living is not to reach a goal five years from now, because I'm not promised my next breath. I live because my Almighty God created me and knows my name. He loves me and has a plan for me. Because of who He is, honor and glory are due Him. I live to praise His name and make it known.

When it feels like the world is crumbling around us, seek Him. Even when we feel like we can handle the day on our own, we should still seek Him. He is the giver of life, joy, and love, so why would we not want to seek Him and find that?

There have been many days when I've goofed off on my phone or watched Netflix instead of doing my homework and regretted it. However, I've never regretted spending time seeking the Lord. It is never a waste.

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders. Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad. Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continuously.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
