Why I'm Thankful For My Little Brother

"A friend is a brother who was once a bother." -Unknown

I'll be honest, as a 14 year-old, I was not excited to become a big sister. However, God knew exactly what I needed even before I did. Words just cannot explain how blessed I am to be called "sissy", or how thankful I am for the fact that I get to come home every weekend and spend time with my little brother, Brody.

Even though he often irks my nerves by bursting in my room just to look at all of my things, or taking too long to get ready, the good still outweighs the bad. He's only five, but this kid gives some semi-good advice. For example, my friend Darby once complained about her acne, and Brody told her to "go get some of that face cream like they have on TV," and it would make her acne go away. Another time, he gave me advice about what I should do about "mean boys". No matter what, I know that just talking to my little brother and hearing some of his crazy stories will always help me have a better day.

I'm also thankful for my little brother because he's ready to try anything. Once, a few friends and I were playing Bean-Boozled and Brody just begged and begged to play even though we told him that the jelly beans didn't all taste good. Luckily, he made it through canned dog food and skunk-spray flavored jelly beans and he still asks me if we can play again. His favorite thing though is probably trying new Snapchat filters out with me; those are definitely always interesting.

Surprisingly though, we have things in common. He loves watching scary movies, eating Chinese food, and being lazy just as much as I do, which is pretty cool. Oh, and I can't leave out the fact he's just as nosy as I am too. I guess you could call him my little best friend because that's exactly what he is.

What I'm most thankful for though, is his random hugs, him making me scoot over in the recliner so he can sit with me, and hearing "sissy will you come watch this movie with me?" Thinking back now, I definitely wouldn't want to have it any other way. Even though there's such a big age difference between my little brother and I, I definitely wouldn't want to be an only child again.

Y'all, my little brother is just simply the best. There's no other way to explain it. Anyone who knows him will tell you that "he's a character alright" as my grandma would say. I'm definitely thankful to be known as Brody's big sister.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
