Does anyone else get super excited for thunderstorms? Because I certainly do.

Seeing the sun slowly get covered up by dark clouds and feeling the wind pick up makes the hairs on my skin rise up.

Ever since I was a young girl, my dad and I would go outside and watch the storm clouds roll in from the distance. Both of us have always had a passion for weather and I never really noticed it until I got to college.

Every day, the first thing I do when I wake up is check the weather. I do not even look at my messages or Snapchats, I go straight to the weather app. At night, the last thing I do before I fall asleep is check the weather because we all know how often the weather can change in just a couple of hours.

The weather amazes me, personally, because the way the sky can change so quickly and how the temperature can drop so drastically is crazy. Thunderstorms are my absolute favorite thing because we are so used to a clear blue sky, but every so often a big storm comes rolling through.

People can ask me what the weather will be like three days from now and I will be able to tell them the highs and lows for that day because of how often I check the weather. I do not find it weird or odd at all because I always know exactly what to wear each day and come prepared while others find themselves drenched with no umbrella.

The funny thing about all of this is that when I was a little kid, I used to be extremely afraid of storms and they would cause me to have panic attacks. It could be the sunniest day of the year and the wind could pick up just a bit and I would begin to cry hysterically.

I hated storms so much that I would not come outside until I saw blue skies. Oh, how the roles have reversed.

When I got older, I started to appreciate the weather more and got control of my fears of storms. One of the main reasons I stopped being so afraid of storms was because of my dad. My dad would drag me outside before the storm even hit and made me watch the clouds roll in with him. We would just sit there and watch how the weather would change.

Doing this with my dad made me get excited about thunderstorms instead of being afraid of them. Once I overcame this fear, I got really into tornadoes, hurricanes, and things like that. My dad and I would watch storm chasers on the television and seeing how big these storms were was unbelievable.

Obviously, I do not wish for huge storms that could include tornadoes or anything like that, but learning about the weather really got me excited and I know that passion and energy will stick with me and my dad forever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
